导 入 新 授 | Step1: Lead-in 1. Show students an English song about Buy Nothing Day. 2. Ask them to talk about what they have known about Buy Nothing Day. 3. Lead in the topic of the passage after discussion. Step2: Fast-reading Students are required to skim the passage in order to find out what is the exact date of Buy Nothing Day. ( the last weekend of November) Step3: Thinking Why did people start Buy Nothing Day? Step4: Careful reading Paragraph One: Ask students to read paragraph one carefully, then complete the following table.
Paragraph Two: If we can not shop on this day, what can we do? Ask students to read the paragraph to get the answer. ( hand out leaflets; cut up credit cards) Paragraph Three: Do you support Buy Nothing Day? Why or why not? In fact, in real life Some people support it ,others don’t. Students are required to read paragraph three to find out what problem the organizes are facing. ( major tv networks don’t give air time to advertise Buy Nothing Day) Step5.
