Although the problems of food safety are getting worse and worse, the causes of these problems remain essentially the same. Firstly and foremost, some companies, to gain huge profits, make fake commodities or products of poor quality. Although unwillingly, we have to say, some merchants even have lost their essential moral bottom line. There are too many companies just seeking to make profits at the cost of public health and safety. Just like one sentence describes: none but you can not think of, there is nothing that suppliers can not offer. Secondly, laws and regulations have not been implemented in a strict way. There are many disadvantages in Chinese legal system about food safety, which has provided the unqualified food with the living space. These laws and regulations about food safety are too sweeping, difficult to operate, and they are seriously lagging. Many indicators are far below the international standard and many important standards still haven't come out, which has promoted the generation and development of those illegal manufacturers and enterprises. Last but not least, the public especially customers from poor families, are not alert enough to the safety of food. In our country, many consumers' income level is low. Without enough spending power and the lack of corresponding common sense, they often only pursue cheap products, regardless of the quality and health problems. Consumers' psychology preferring goods on sale opens the door for some illegal companies. What's more, some consumers are lack of the common sense about the scientific concept of healthy food, which may cause some diseases and even food poisoning events.
In view of the graveness of the problem, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. Firstly, it is imperative that relevant laws and regulations should be enforced in a strict way. There are many things for the government and relevant departments to do. High attention should be paid to the food safety propaganda and supervision; Full play should be given to the role of the media supervision, not only to continue exposing the behaviors of illegal merchants, but also to cultivate the knowledge about food safety and improve consumers' consciousness of self-protection; Substandard food should be withdrew from the market forcibly; Producing and using of food additive should be under strict control. Secondly, the public should be trained to be alert to food safety. We should not buy the food which has no guarantee or no date of manufacture. If we ignore the quality and buy them, this will lead factories to produce more unhealthy food. When nobody buys these substandard products and everyone can report the criminal behaviors actively, the illegal action will be reduced. Only by taking these actions can the problems be solved successfully in the nearest future.
Nowadays, the problem of food safety is becoming more and more serious. More unqualified food are being produced and the ways of faking are diversified. The situation is so severe that it allows no delay. The government must make effective measures immediately to protect the rights and interests of consumers. Everyone of us citizens should also realize the importance of food safety and try our best to make contributions to solve this problem. Only with our joint efforts, could we enjoy safe and healthy food.
