1. 前文已经提到的名词，再次提到时名词前面要用the。

2. 表示双方都知道的人或事物。

4. 用在某些乐器名词前面。

6. 用在姓氏的复数形式前，表示“某某一家”或“某夫妇 二人”，做主语时谓语动词用复数形式。

7. 与形容词连用，表示一类人。
