Intheyearssincethediscoveryofmultiplesuperconduct-ingphasesinPrOs4Sb12experimentalresultsconcerningthesymmetryofthesuperconductingstateshaveprolif-erated,butsofarnotheoreticaldescriptioniswidelyac-cepted.Ourstartingpointisastrictanalysisofsymmetryandsymmetry-breakingdescribedbyLandautheory[1,2].Thisapproachmakesdefinitestatementsaboutthesym-metryandgapnodesofpossiblesuperconductingstates.Inthisproceedings,weextendthisanalysistodiscussthepossibleexistenceofdeepdipsinthegapfunction,andhowtheymaybeobservedexperimentally.
PrOs4Sb12hastwosuperconductingphases,asobservedinthermalconductivity[3]andseveralothermeasurements[4,5,6],the‘A-phase’,whichbordersthenormalphaseontheH-Tphasediagramandthe‘B-phase’whichappearsjustbelowit.TherearemoreexperimentalobservationsoftheB-phasethantheA-phase,inpartbecauseitoccupiesamuchgreaterareaofthephasediagram.Variousmea-surementshavedeterminedthattheB-phasehastripletpairing,breakstime-reversalsymmetry[4]andhasnodesornear-nodesinthe[001]directionsofthegapfunction[3,5].Someexperimentshaveinterpretedthedoubletran-sitionintermsofmulti-bandsuperconductivity[7],suchthattheA-phaseandB-phasepossessthesamesymmetry.AthirdsuperconductingphasehasbeendetecteddeepinthesuperconductingregionoftheH-Tphasediagram,butitssymmetrypropertiesarepresentlyunknown[8].
