Title: B Questions about the environment

Time duration: 40mins

Teaching material: From 8A Oxford English

Lesson type: Listening and speaking

Topic: What will you do about the environment?

Analysis of students: 1. 25 students, 12boys and 13girls, four groups, eight grates.

2. they have good memory and imagination, but their attention is not very well.

3. they are eager for independence, having their own ideas and broad interest, but they easily get lost.

Analysis of the teaching materials: The text and a video clip

1. the text is familiar to the students, which is about the environment, but some sentences are little bit long to the students; it has many new words; the exercise is a table, not much difficult.

2. a short video clip about the environment.

Teaching objectives: The students will be able to:

1. get the main idea; catch the key points; use their short memory; express one’s ideas in English; know how to co-operate with others.

2. take notes;

3. know some new words; know the forms of asking questions and expressing ideas.

4. have an awareness of protecting the environment.

Teaching focus: 1. the students know how to get the key information and take notes.

2. the students know the sentence forms of asking questions and answering questions

Teaching difficulties: students’ fear and rejection of speaking out.

Teaching strategies: take notes

Teaching aids: blackboard, media instruction

Teaching procedures:

ⅠPre-: ( 5mins)

Teacher tells the students about her own experience: These days are hot. So, I brought a bottle of water and just drank it off. Now, I have the empty plastic bottle. What can I do with the bottle? Can I just throw it away? If you were me, what will you do? Teacher asks for students' advice.

ⅡWhile-: (22mins)

1. Teacher shows the students three pictures about the listening material and tells them that they will hear a conversation about four people's opinions for the pictures . (4mins)

2. Before listening the tape, the whole class reviews the words. (1mins)

3. First listening: listen carefully, and finish the first part of table. Then, teacher picks some students to show their answers. Teacher gives the correct answer and feedback. (7mins)

4. Second listening: listen carefully, and finish the second part of table. After finishing, the students check their answers with partners. Then, teacher picks some students to show their answers. Teacher gives the correct answer and feedback. . (10mins)

Ⅲ Post-: (13mins)

1. Teacher asks students to discuss the question about three

environmental problems in groups: What will you do? Different group

works with different situation. List the advice as much as they can.

Then, they show their answers to the whole class.(10mins)

2. The teacher summarizes the whole class. (2mins)

4. Assignment: Work in groups and DIY a pen pot with waste and scrap.
