Why Should We Protect Our Environment

With the development of the society, most of us are used to driving work and home regardless of the air pollution. We are enthusiastically in for the pleasure of the great fireworks in spite of the harms they contribute to the environment. As the environment getting worse and worse, it’s crucial for us to take actions to protect the environment as soon as possible. I will demonstrate my point of view by the following reasons.

On one hand, the pollution is serious enough to attack human health nowadays. As you can see, there are a number of factories functioning at the cost of the surrounding environment. According to the survey, in China, there are 15,700,000 tons of sulfur dioxide and 8410,000 tons of industrial dust emitting into the air per year. What’s more, they also pour out poisonous water into the river which indirectly endangers the human health potentially. Also, with the increasing use of agricultural chemicals, the crops contain more and more hazardous materials which could cause deadly diseases to people, such as the poisonous rice, poisonous pork events happened years before. Another typical case is the mercury poisoning event in Japan because of which several thousand people died or got disabled. As far as I am concerned, I think it’s the environment’s revenge, to a certain extents. Nobody wants to see the tragedy being on show once more. So we must be aware of the environmental protection from now on so as to keep a friendly relationship between the human and the environment.

On the other hand, pollution does great harm to the ecological balance. As we all know, the nature is very complex as well as huge a system which accordingly has a complicated balance relationship like a net. However, recent years has seen an sharp decreasing of forest who plays an crucial role in keeping the ecological balance. The most obvious result of this is the sharp decline of animals and plants. As we have learnt that the biosphere is connected by food chains like a pyramid and we, human beings are on the top of it, that is to say, thousands of plants and animals make up the main body of the pyramid, if the body keeps being attacked, the final disaster will come to ourselves. Recently, the ecological problems like desertification, global warming, and climate abnormal have brought the ecological balance to a dangerous stage and urge us to go into action in protecting the environment.

Additionally, we should consider more for the future generations. Nobody wants the blue sky, clear water and green forest become the fairytale in the textbook. We should leave a wonderful environment for our later generations and give them the chance to live happily and enjoyably.

To sum up, we should and must be aware of the serious situation in the face and protect the environment from now on. I believe that if every single person contributes a little, the environment will better a lot.
