The Most Memorable Lesson I’ve ever Had

I’ve had quite a lot of lessons in my school life. Among them the one given by an American young teacher was the most unforgettable.

It was on Tuesday morning in May last year. Our teacher told us all of a sudden that an American visitor would give us an English lesson. Then came in a young man. He greeted us in English and then began his class, which was quite different from what we’ve had before. During the class he taught us English songs, played games with us and helped us act out a dialogue. He neither taught us English grammar rules nor asked us to do lots of written exercises. He was not serious at all. He was always smiling at each of us. Happy time was always short. The class was over before we realized it. Finally, we took a photo with the American visitor and said goodbye to him.

Though we just spent two hours with him, I would never forget his smile, his songs and everything he had done with us in class.

Ex. 10 Write a short passage of at least 100 words about the power of your childhood dream.

Dreams are a powerful part of our lives. They can raise a beggar up to be an important businessman. They can cause despair despite great achievement. Dreams are different for everyone. Almost everyone has a dream. Children are full of dreams. As children, many dream of helping society; assisting the elderly in their daily lives, giving a home to stray animals, or even helping lost tourists. When I was a child I dreamed, as many children did, of starting my own business. I saved my nickels and dimes I earned for helping with work in order to invest in growing and selling strawberries. I dreamed of having a grand store; selling strawberries to hundreds, perhaps even thousands of happy customers. I’m happy to report my childhood dreams fostered my present love of business and investing.

My Leisure-time Hobby on Campus.”

I’m so glad that I have some leisure time on campus when I can pursue my hobbies. Without certainty, my ultimate, favorite leisure-time hobby is listening to music and I can honestly say that I like almost all kinds of music, but pop music is my favorite. Some say I’m a walking library of knowledge when it comes to knowing about the biz on some of the singers. What I do know though is that I love to sing some of their songs and am pretty good at that. Some day I hope to learn to play a guitar; something that has been a life-long desire. Meanwhile though, I go to the karaoke clubs to sing my heart out when I can persuade my friends to join me instead of going to the net bars.

I Got the Job!

I was really nervous when I went to my first job interview, but I made sure that I arrived on time and was properly dressed. With a smile on my face and a good firm handshake, I handed my interviewer my résumé and hoped for the best. Realizing the importance of maintaining eye contact, I persevered while answering all of the questions to the best of my ability and hoped that he didn’t notice how much my hands were shaking. Some of the questions he asked were the same ones as I’d practiced with my roommate the night before, which really helped with my self-confidence. Gradually I became less nervous, and even asked an intelligent question at the end of the interview. It wasn’t as bad as I had expected, and best of all, I actually got the job.

My teacher asked me to tell the class about my favorite place in the world to visit. I started with travel books and magazines about Hawaii, which gave me some general information and some good pictures. But I didn’t think that was enough, so I looked for more details. Luckily I received some first-rate brochures from a travel agency, where one of them included a website address. Through the website, I found even more information about Hawaii, such as travel tips, guidebooks, and even video clips of all its scenic spots, all providing an even more vivid picture of Hawaii. With all the information that I have now, I can hardly wait to give my presentation to the class.

When I was a middle school student three of us fellow classmates volunteered to help prepare for a local festival in my hometown. It was the first time I had done that and we did not know what we could do. We just stood there, watching others being busy with their work. Ten minutes later we went to the festival committee and were asked to help with the publicity. We walked around, passing out leaflets and welcoming people to attend the festival. It was fun, and at the festival we were invited to sing an English song to the audience. The first volunteering experience was not only fun, but also an unforgettable experience.
