C
My parents seldom encouraged me to ask for help, so I trained myself to become as independent as possible. I thought if I asked for help, I would be a problem to other people.
A few years ago, I was on a trip. In order to save money,I planned to stay in a stranger's house by couchsurfing(沙发客).When I arrived in the host's city, it was raining hard.
My host was very friendly. She invited me to go on a walk with her around her city. At that time, I didn't even have the right shoes for the bad weather. I wanted to ask her whether she had any shoes for me, but I didn't want to trouble her. Finally, I said nothing.
It was really cold outside, and the heavy rain made my shoes wet. When we got home three hours later, I had lost all feelings in my feet.
That was all because I wouldn't ask. I wouldn't ask a simple thing like, “Hey, could you find a pair of good shoes for me?”
From that day, I tried hard to get through my fear of asking. It has taken me a long time. From my experiences, I've discovered that people are always happy to offer help. What's more, I have finally realised that asking isn't a sign of weakness (脆弱). Asking gives you the opportunity to discover the kindness of others.
So ask. The worst that can happen is a “no”. The best that can happen is an experience you'll never forget.

B.got some good shoes in the end
C.spent six hours visiting the city with the host
D.got through his fear of asking quite quickly
( )59.What does the underlined word “opportunity” mean in Chinese?
A.钱财 B.机会 C.借口 D.缺陷
( )60.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Being independent is always a good thing.
B.Don't go outside on rainy and windy days.
C.Don't be afraid to ask for help if you are in trouble.
D.Wear good shoes during your trips.

Giving Directions in Different Places
If you ask people of different countries “Could you tell me the way to the post office?”, you will get different answers.
In Japan, people use landmarks (路标) instead of street names. For example, the Japanese will say to travelers, “Go straight down to the corner.__61__ The post office is across from the bus stop.”
In Kansas, America, there are no towns or buildings within miles. So instead of landmarks, people will tell you directions and distance. For example, people will say, “Go north two miles.__62__”
People in Greece sometimes do not even try to give directions. They will often say, “Follow me.”__63__ Sometimes if the person doesn't know the answer to your question, he or she, like a New Yorker, might say, “Sorry, I have no idea.” But in Yucatan, Mexico, no one answers “I don't know.”__64__ They usually give an answer, but often a wrong one. A visitor can always get lost in Yucanta!__65__ You might not understand a person's words, but maybe you can understand his or her body language. He or she will usually point to the correct direction. Go on in that direction and you may find the direction.
根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺、内容完整。
