名词从句的本质——三种句子充当四种成分
名词在句中主要充当四种成分：主语、宾语、表语和同位语
当一个句子被当作名词来使用时，也在句中充当这四种成分，也就有了主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同位语从句。能够充当名词从句的句子主要有三类：陈述句、一般疑问句和特殊疑问句。
一、主语从句
1. 陈述句：由that引导的主语从句
a. that引导的主语从句直接放在句首（非常少见）
Eg, That the seas are being overfished has been known for years.
b. that引导的主语从句放在句末，it做形式主语
It + be + 过去分词 +that 从句
It’s reported that…据报道……
It’s believed that…据信……
It’s generally thought that…人们普遍认为……
It has been found that…现已发现……
It should be noted that…应当注意……
Eg, It is generally agreed that a person of high intelligence is one who can grasp ideas rapidly, make distinctions and reason logically.
It + be + 形容词 + that从句
It is clear that… 显然，……
It is possible / likely that… ……是很有可能的
It is obvious that… 很显然……
It is natural that… 很自然……
Eg, It is obvious that most of the people don’t take global warming seriously.
It + be + 名词短语 + that从句
It is a pity that… 可惜的是……
It is a fact that… 事实是……
It is good news that… ……真是太好了
It is no wonder that… 难怪……
It is a shame that… 遗憾的是……/……真是太不象话了
It is an honor that… 真荣幸……
Eg, It is a truth that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.
其它
It seems that… 似乎……
It turns out that… 结果证明是……
It occurs to sb. that… 某人突然想起……
It doesn’t need to be bothered that… 不必担忧……
Eg, It never occurred to me that I would one day quit my full-time job.
2. 一般疑问句（whether）和特殊疑问句（what, how, whatever, who等等）
Whether the eyes are the windows of the soul is debatable; that they are important in interpersonal communication is a fact.
Whoever tries to resolve a conflict soon learns that nothing pleases everybody.
What happened on September 11,2001 will be forever etched in our memories.
3. because 引导的主语从句
“because + 陈述句”，置于主语位置，谓语往往是does not mean. 在because前往往有just加强语气
Just because something appears valuable doesn’t mean that it really is valuable.
Just because you are doing something doesn’t mean you are making accomplishment.
二、宾语从句
No one knows exactly
A. how did speech begin B. how speech began
C. how the beginning of speech D. of how beginning speech
He wondered
A. what will be his wife’s reaction B. what would his wife’s reaction be
C. how would be his wife’s reaction D. what his wife’s reaction would be
I don’t care we are invited to the dinner
A. if or not B. whether or not C. what D. what
1. 宾语从句后置
“动词+it形式宾语+宾语补足语+that宾语从句”
We must make it clear that the parties involved are to make every effort to reduce the pollution.
2. That在宾语从句中的省略
一般而言，that引导宾语从句时，可将that省略。但是当几个宾语从句并列使用时，that一般不可省略。
I once read that “the beauty of life is its changes” and that “the art of life lies in readjusting to our surroundings”.
People need encouragement to confirm that they are okay, that they are desirable, and that somebody cares them for who they really are.
