Presentation
In this part, the Ss are required to give a presentation based on their assignment. Thus, their speaking and listening ability can get improved.
Dictation
Ask Ss to write out the new words when they hear the Chinese meaning of the word.
Word pretest
1. Let Ss choose the synonym of italicized word; take a guess from the context. 5'
2. Check the answers. (Ask one or two Ss to read the answers). And explain the way of taking a guess. 7'
Review the two ways commonly used:
Definition clues- comma, dash, parentheses, "or", "is", "mean", "that is"
Example clues: "for example/instance", "like", "including", "such as", "to illustrate”...
and reading skills: class relationship and contrast relationship; Complex sentence structure and Unfamiliar use of language; Distinguishing topic from main idea.

4. The application of the ways introduced in the text of looking for clues to guess the meaning of the new words. 5'
