阅读理解(人生百味)专题(含答案)(word)1

一、九年级中考英语阅读理解(人生百味)(含答案详细解析)

1阅读下面四篇短文,从每题所给的ABCD四个选项中选出最佳选项。

B

Think of life as a game in which you are playing with five balls in the air. You name them work, family, health, friends and spirit and you keep all of them in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.

But the other four balls, family, health, friends and spirit, are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be broken and never be the same. You must understand that and try to have balance in your life. How ?

Don't look down on your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different and each of us is special.

Don't let other people set goals for you. Only you know what is best for yourself.

Don't give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don't be afraid of difficulties. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible. The quickest way to receive love is to give it; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going.

Don't be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless. It's a treasure you can always carry easily.

Don't use time or words carelessly. You can't get them back. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery*, and today is a gift; that's why we call it “the present”. Life is not a competition, but a trip, step by step.

1According to the passage, the best way to keep love is to ________.

A. say it's impossible                  B. give it                  C. give it wings                  D. hold it tightly

It also helps to improve the visitor's language ability,” said a teacher during a school meeting last term. “Students who wish to learn more about foreign cultures or to get foreign experience should join this kind of holiday. I am sure you won't be disappointed(失望的).”

After this special meeting, I always thought about this kind of holiday. Last month, I had a chance at last to go on such a holiday with some of my schoolmates and we went to London, a place where I had wanted to go since years ago.

As we were still young, we had a group leader who planned things for us and looked after us. After we got to London, we went to stay with different families. I was lucky that my host family(寄宿家庭) was a white couple who had a daughter about my age. They treated me as a daughter of their family during my stay there. They were interested in me and I learnt a lot of things from them, too.

The holiday was filled with activities every day. After breakfast, a local teacher would come to take us in his car. Then we would have classes or go on a sightseeing trip to different places of interest like the Big Ben, the London Bridge, and the Buckingham Palace. We would go back to our own homes after the activities.

The first time my wife Linda gave birth was in a hospital.

When Linda got pregnant (怀孕) for the second time, we wanted a home birth, not just for ourselves, but for our daughter. We are very open with our daughter. We want to teach her respect and awe (敬畏) for the things of bodies. So she was part of the process from the very beginning.

In the morning the midwives came just as Linda was climbing into the birth tub (盆). Our daughter offered her mom water and food while she rested. When she found the noise and activity of birth, she was too nervous to stay long, so she spent a few minutes next to the tub, then went into another room to play. The midwives called her back in time to see her brother come into the world. As Linda pulled our tiny newborn son up, our daughter and I rushed to her side. all four of us hugging and crying and very excited. That night, and many times since then, our daughter said. "I'm so proud of Mom for having a baby." She has seen and admired the effort it takes to bring a new person into the world. It's a part of her life, something that can happen in the same room where she colors and watches movies.

It was crucial that our daughter was part of that experience, not just for her, but for Linda and me as well. Everything we wanted for her—trusted care providers; a very familiar environment; continuing support; good food—were things we needed but didn't have the first time Linda gave birth. We crossed this threshold (门槛) together, as a family, and it was messy and scary and painful and unusual and mysterious and really perfect.

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover

Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved reading crime and detective (侦探) novels, so I guess it was pretty normal that I started writing them when I was older. However, my family is very big on having a traditional career  (职业)  and so when I said that I wanted to go to college and study writing, my parents told me that I couldn't. They told me that I had to study for a degree so that I would achieve a career, and not something as risky as writing. I suppose I could have studied joumalism (新闻) ,but I didn't want to lose interest in writing because it would be something I would do every day for work, not for pleasure. I thought that teaching looked like a pretty good compromise (妥协 , especially because of the long holidays. It was a good choice: by the time I was twenty-fiveI'd already finished two novels and had an agent.

To be honest, I never meant to keep my being a crime writer a secret or anything, and my friends have always known. One of the reasons most people don't know is because my agent told me that my name Hazel sounded too much like a romance (浪漫) novelist for older women. She suggested Brooke Lane and I thought, "Well, if you think it'll make me successful, okay," I'd totally forgotten about it until I walked into school one day and saw one of my workmates reading my novel. I asked her some questions about it, and it was so clear that she had no idea that I'd written it - she even offered to lend it to me after she'd finished!  Of course, sometimes I wonder what my students would think if they knew that their teacher was going home on the weekend to write about murders and dead bodies, but I think my parents probably did me a favor: my teaching job keeps me in touch with the real world.

1Hazel is probably

A. an agent             B. a journalist             C. a teacher and artist             D. a teacher and writer

2The underlined words "is very big on " in the passage most probably mean         .

A. to give no advice

B. to like something very much

C. to have more experiences

D. to misunderstand something

3It's clear that Hazel             .

A. agreed to study journalism for a degree

B. accepted Brooke Lane as her pen name

C. would like to write something for teaching

D. told her workmates about her writing novels

4Hazel finally realized that her parents' advice on her career was              .

A. helpful                           B. exciting                           C. disappointing                           D. risky

5We can infer from the passage that              .

A. Hazel likes showing off in public

B. Hazel's students all want to write novels

C. Hazel's agent has played a role in her success

D. older women prefer the name Brooke to Hazel

8阅读下面短文,从每小题所给的四个选项中,选出一个最佳答案。

Here is a story: A man sees a butterfly (蝴蝶). The butterfly tries to get out of its chrysalis (蛹). Feeling sorry for it, the man decides to help. He cuts the chrysalis and the butterfly comes out easily. Surprisingly enough, the butterfly is unable to fly. If the butterfly doesn't struggle (挣扎;奋斗) to leave the chrysalis, it can't fly! The struggle develops the energy in the butterfly which makes it fly. Similarly, the challenges of life bring out the best in young people and make the fly.

When people are young, meeting and overcoming challenges will make them strong and ready to face life. When we look at successful people, we see that the most successful of them are people who have had to struggle. One famous businessman, who now owns many big supermarkets, used to carry clothes on his back and sell them from door to door when he was young. Another successful man is Dennis. His father died when he was only twenty. His father's death forced him to mature fast. He had to bring up a family of nine people. He took up the challenges and overcame them. Today his brothers and sisters are leading successful lives.

Sometimes challenges do not appear to us because we keep away from them. So some parents and teachers actively encourage young people to face challenges. They might organize some activities for young people which provide them with challenges, like rock-climbing, camping, volunteer work and so on. However, just passing exams will not prepare a person for life. We must meet and overcome challenges. The young people of today will become the leaders of tomorrow. For countries to continue to become successful, it is important that the young people learn to meet challenges and overcome them.

1Dennis's example shows that successful people should ________.

A. sell clothes from door to door                        B. overcome the difficulties

C. take up business early                                     D. become the leaders of tomorrow

9阅读理解

Today the word friendship has been used so often that it has lost its meaning. Someone even says that friends are made to be used. It makes me very sad.

True friendship doesn't mean that when you need your friend's help, you will treat him to dinner, and when you have to protect yourself, you will put your friends in a difficult situation.

In fact, true friendship is the communication and understanding of the hearts.

True friendship is like water. Compared with decent wine, water is tasteless, but is of great help when we are thirsty. True friends don't need to be with each other every day, but are connected in heart every minute.

True friendship is like medicine. Though it is bitter, it cures your illness. True friends give you some suggestions even if they know you would not take. They criticize you when others have a good word for you, not because of envy but worrying that you may lose your cool head.

True friendship has nothing to do with fame, power or money. True friends would often watch you silently far away when you are influential, but come to you whenever you need their help. You're not his stepping-stone to success, but are his crutch(依靠) to live through difficulties.

True friends make you complete. Many persons go along with you through your life—your parents, your spouse(配偶), and your children, who take care of you and make your life happy. However, you still need someone who understands your thoughts and souls. Without them, you are likely to be unhealthy in spirit.

True friends stay in your heart, rather than at your side; they know you more than yourself, and try to better you.

1What makes the writer sad?

A. Someone doesn't understand friendship.      B. Someone makes wrong friends.

C. Someone doesn't treasure friendship.            D. Someone blames their friends.

2Why does the writer compare friendship with water?

A. Because it has no taste.                                   B. Because it is important to our life.

C. Because it is easy to get.                                  D. Because it stays with us every day.

10阅读理解

For as long as I can remember I have always loved the stage: I was always in school plays and took part in anything the school was organizing for open events.

When I started my stage school in April 1999 I was quiet, shy, timid and lacked confidence. Since I have been there I have learnt a lot more about dance, singing and drama. What is the most important is that I have become bold and active, and my life has been always full of hope and happiness since then.

In dance I would learn a mixture of Jazz and Modern. In drama I would learn about improvisations(即席创作), role play, character hot sea and focus on scene. In a word, I would learn everything about the stage. In singing I would learn how to hold a note, how to send a breath, how to hit the impossible how to make a song your own and how to sing in confidence without going wrong.

Before I started practicing these techniques with my teachers I was pretty much stupid about what any of those things meant.

I have achieved so much since I have been there. I have participated in many plays with my performing arts school in theatre. I have played a jester(小丑) in Cinderella, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, danced and sung solo(独唱) in local performances and even gained a casting agent(选择演员代理人) for acting.

I have sung in my new school choir and I have been awarded the top award because of my years' hard work and great achievement in my stage life.
