课外活动对参与者的学业有最直接的好处。适当的参与各种运动、俱乐部及义工对于学生来说实际上是一种很好的日常减压方式。，没有压力的学生自不过然地会更快乐更健康，他们在学习过程中会更有效率，获得更好的成绩。参加课外活动也有助于学生毕业后的工作。雇佣者在招聘人才时不再青睐于那些仅仅平均总成绩搞得学生。很多公司在挑选招聘岗位最适合的人选时，也会把应聘者参加过的活动考虑在内，因为课外活动也能够提升学生的沟通水平、领导水平及协作水平，这些都是大学生将来在工作中想去的成功所需要的重要技能。最后但同样重要的是，参加课外活动的学生会知道如何过一种和谐而充实的生活。俗话说，“只工作不玩耍会让Jack变成一个笨孩子”。换句话说，那些恒天只知道工作学习的人会变得无聊、没有灵感及对生活缺乏激情。课外活动会让学生喜欢上各种运动、业余爱好及社区服务，会让他们变得更加健康、完善。
