Should we limit the number of children people can have? Why? Why not?

Development of scientific and the progress in living conditions have led to the rapid growth of the world population. Modern technology and science, for example, has made it possible for babies to grow up healthily and for people to live longer. With improved living conditions, people tend to have larger families .As a result, the world population has increased so rapidly that it has now exceeded 6 billion. What is worse, the number of people is keep increasing 80 million each year. The large number of our population has become one of the most serious problems of our society we have to face.

Limit the number of children people can have is the most effective way to solve the population problem, the seriousness of which we often underestimate. Overpopulation has brought about a series of negative effects to our economic development and social security. Firstly, too many people impose a heavy burden on our environment. As a result, we suffer from a limit of fresh water and natural resources. Secondly, as the supply of labor greatly exceeds the demand of the society, many people become unemployed. This is a reason of social unrest. Last but not least, we have to manufacture all kinds of products to meet the needs of the people, which cause environment pollution to our earth.

To conclusion, as for my perspective we need to limit the number of children people can have. The government should carry out more strictly the policy of birth control. Only in this way can reduce the total number of population in order to save the mankind and save the world. October 7th 2011
