晚清修建铁路热潮述论

摘要:鸦片战争后,铁路作为一项帝国主义国家对中国进行资本输出的重要手段在中国出现并发展起来。19世纪60年代,铁路知识开始传入中国,列强也开始试探着在中国修建铁路。但是,对铁路的不了解、对洋人的恐惧、对铁路扰民的担心等等因素导致清政府对铁路拒而远之。甲午战争后,铁路的重要性得到共识,发展的势头更加迅速。此时,帝国主义列强也通过一些不平等条约取得了在中国修建铁路的权利,由此引发了四川、广东等地的保路运动。晚清中国修建铁路热潮的各派势力虽然居心不同,但客观上都促进了中国铁路事业的发展。
