3.what does college mean to you?

 I can still remember that when I was in Senior high school, I was strongly looking forward to studying at university. I once thought university was the place that gave us entire freedom to learn what we were interested in so as to chase our dreams , and this was the only meaning of my university life. However, after I was really studying at university, I found that things didn’t move on as I expected.

   My experience taught me that there was no such thing like entire freedom. Even though I am at university, I still need to have some courses which I think are unnecessary. On the other side, I find that I want to learn something else related to my specialized subject.

So here comes the problem: too many courses and too much homework take away my spare time, it comes out with the result that I couldn’t learn in a way that fits me because the situation doesn’t allow me to. Therefore, I begin to doubt that what the true meaning of my university life is. Just to follow the requirement of all the courses? Or something else?

Many students don’t know what they should do at university, so they just follow the others blindly. But being independent is one of the meanings of university life. Teachers may give you some instructions, classmates may set you some examples, however, we are the one who know best about what we really need. As for me, I don’t want to be a high school student at university any more. I know that I have great interest in finance, so I am planning to do some part-time jobs and to study another specialized subject like finance next year. Even though other classmates might make totally different decisions, I am independent and know what I want, so I won’t follow the others blindly.

Another meaning of my university life is to accumulate experience for my future. That’s why I do part-time jobs, take part in the academic department of our school and so on. That’s a must if I really want to gain success.

There are varieties of meanings of my university life. But the final meaning must be chasing my goal. I’ll learn to be independent, to have abundant knowledge, to strengthen my working ability and a lot more at university. But all of these work for my dream, it will never be enough if we just want to be a good follower, we have to learn to be the leader of our dream step by step. And that is the meaning of our university life!
