Do “Lucky Numbers” Really Bring Good Luck?

There are some people who are convinced that certain numbers can bring good luck to them. For example, in China, 6 and 8 are considered as lucky numbers. They think that number 6 will make things easy and number 8 will bring people profits because its pronunciation comes near to the character "发" in Chinese, which means "getting prosperous". There are even mine combined lucky numbers. A case in point is "168" which means one will have no setbacks all his life. Because its pronunciation is similar to the characters "一路发" in Chinese. They believe in lucky numbers so much that they usually pay a large sum of money to get those, so-called lucky numbers.

However, some people think good luck has nothing to do with luck numbers at all. They think it is ridiculous and stupid to believe in the magic power of those so-called lucky numbers. They consider those people are only cheating themselves.

As a young student, I prefer the latter opinion. I don't think there is any relation between numbers and luck. Maybe you have heard such a story. A rich man paid a lot of money to get a car license plate with several "8's" in its number, but later he died in a car accident. He thought that he should have been blessed by his "lucky" number.

From this story, what conclusion can we draw? Can we say that lucky numbers will bring people good luck? Definitely no. Then what should we do? If we want to succeed, we should believe in ourselves and work hard. As the saying goes, "No pains, no gains." Work as hard as you can and try your best to seize every opportunity, and success will be waiting for you, fortune will be created by yourselves. Only in this way can your dream come true.
