how to build a harmonious society?

There seems much discussion nowadays in the society as to how to build a harmonious society. As for this problem, different people may hold different views. Some people focus on economic development, and they believe that the development in economy should go beyond other issues and rapid economic development will literally bring fruitful benefits on human beings and people may enjoy abundant material possessions.

However, others stress that economic enhancement should give way to environmental protection. They argue that agreeable environment is the foundation of a healthy society, and the prerequisite of economic development should have a harmonious environment. Otherwise, humans would definitely have to eat the evil fruits of environmental pollution and disastrous events. In other words, without green environment, there would be no harmonious society therefore.

As for the question of building a harmonious society, I believe that raising economic levels and protecting environment are equally important because they are like the two sides of a coin. Abundant economic markets will allow the residents to enjoy colorful fruits of material production, and on the other hand, beautiful and harmonious environment gives an access to appreciating the economic results. It should be highlighted that economic development can’t be achieved at the cost/expense of environmental pollution. A harmonious society should have the both---high level development in economy and care and concern on the environment in which man lives.
