B “Yes” is a key aspect of positive living. Saying “yes” means inviting new or deeper relationships. But too much “yes” leaves us feeling powerless to set boundaries in our lives. This had been on my mind when the book of No 365 Ways to Say It and Mean Itand Stop Peopie-Pleasing Forever came across my desk. The new edition of this decade-old book by psychologist Susan Newman is readable for those who struggle to say “no” with confidence and kindness. Newman calls people who feel compelled to yes their way through life “ people-pleasers' The chief symptoms of this condition include maintaining long-built expectations that you will care for others and feeling unwilling to state your own needs when requested. For people-pleasers,“yes is the path of least resistance and the way to avoid damaging your relationship with the asker,” Newman writes.
So how can we say “no”? The book offers brief dialogues for hundreds of conditions in which “no” is the right answer.
Reading through the conditions, I realized they have some things in commonthings that immediately started helping me sharpen my “no” skills.
For one thing,very rarely do the “no” dialogues include “I’m sorry” language. Insteadthey are simple and clear statements like, “No,I don’t want to go,” or “Not without everyone’s help. ”
I also noticed the statements generally don’t ask us to say, “I can’t. ” Instead,they say, “I prefer not to...,” or “It won’t work for me to……” This 只要坚持 梦想终会实现

Actually, there are many ideas that can help you cerebrate your success. First of allyou can ask yourself questions like What did I enjoy most about this journey? What do I feel most confident about? Then think about them. Answering questions like these can help clarify what it is that you’re celebrating about your success, and then you’ll practice thanks and improve personal strengths that will likely be used in future tasks. When celebrating success, it’s also necessary to remember others who may have helped you to reach the finish line. Give them specific feedback (反馈)about the ways they helped you achieve your goal and express thanks for their help. When you celebrate success with others, you’re developing the kind of meaningful relationships that allow those same people to want to help you in the future.
