广西是中国少数民族人口最多的省区，总面积23.67万平方公里，2010年总人口5159万。广西与东盟国家山水相连、人文相通，是中国与东盟国家唯一既有陆地接壤又有海上通道的省区，是中国面向东盟开放合作的前沿和窗口，是连接多区域的国际通道、交流桥梁、合作平台。
