The online novel “Ode to Joy” has been adapted into two TV serials. The first one is full of stars, while the second one is de-clining in popularity. Starting from Hall’s theoretical logic of encoding and decoding, this paper explores his ideas of adaptation and creation, interprets the audience’s consumption process through online comments, and reflects on the phenomenon of network literary change that is the problem of Ode to Joy 2 during the whole communication process.
