Abstract: This article investigates the status of the cognition, participation characteristics, organizationmanagement, and influeming factors of extracurricular training of physical education students in Shanxi Universitythrough literature research, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics and interview methods. The followingconclusions have been drawn: the physical education students of Shanxi University have demonstrated a higherlevel of participation in training; many students have lower levels of special skills and physical fitness;professional coaches are required to supervise student training and establish good sports values. The purpose ofthis article is to provide a basis for the management of extracurricular training for the School of Physical Educationof the University, and to provide some experience for promoting the vigorous development of the extracurriculartraining of physical education students in Shanxi University.
