Dear Li Hua,
A lot of thanks for your inviting me to attend the Opening Ceremony of our school and make a speech there. Surely I’ll come and the following are what I will say.
In the first place, I appreciate the chance that I am offered the job by our school. I think I’ll do my best to teach my students well and spare no efforts to help them. Secondly, to learn English well, one has to develop a good habit of study and try to use English as often as possible. As everybody knows, practice makes perfect. In addition, as English is more and more widely used in the world, the importance of it needs no explanation of mine. Therefore, everybody, including both the teachers and the students, needs to learn it. It is really worth our learning.
Now I feel I can’t wait to enjoy the chance to make the speech. Looking forward to meeting you all soon. All the best wishes!

M: OK, I’m going to talk about one of my wishes. I think everybody has one or two things they wish they could change about themselves and for me I really wish I could sing. Unfortunately I have a terrible voice.
I cannot sing at all, and in Japan, this is very embarrassing because Japanese people love to go to Karaoke. And Karaoke is when you go with a few friends to a place, a Karaoke bar, I guess, or a centre, you get a small room and inside the room there are songs on the TV. You can choose what songs to watch and then one person sings the song. Everyone listens and it’s very popular in Japan and it’s a lot of fun but I feel really embarrassed because I can’t sing and everybody always says, “Oh, no, it’s OK. Don’t worry.” But after I sing, everybody doesn’t want me to sing anymore.
It’s also very hard for me because I love teaching children and when I teach children I need to teach songs. Songs are very important for children when they’re little. I think the reason I cannot sing is because unfortunately in my country, the United States, we don’t sing as children and I really would like this to change. So yeah, I really wish I could sing although I don’t think that it’s ever going to be a reality.
