Summary
The speech tells us the theory of China’s one-party system. Democracy isn’t the only way of a country. He tells us the rationality of China’s one-party system and the end of the era of meta-narratives. The adaptability, meritocracy and legitimacy are three defining characteristics of China’s one-party system. China is always doing political reforms. The Party’s Organization Department which runs a giant human resource engine and the theory that competency determines the source of political legitimacy avoid corruption to some degree. And survey is a different kind of mechanism to be responsive to demands and the thinking of people which can correct the situation in time. China’s political model will never supplant and the significance of it is not that it provides an alternative, but the demonstration that alternatives exist. Communism and democracy may both be laudable ideas, but the era of their dogmatic universalism is over. Let universality make way for plurality.
