Eating in Japan.It is “perfectly” okay to slurp (make a noise while drinking something) when you eat noodles.Unlike making big noises, slurping mildly is not rude but is a compliment to the chef.Japanese also say it tastes better if you slurp.It's important to say traditional phrases of thanks before and after a meal.Eat sushi whole.Dip the fish part rather than the rice into soy sauce.

The teacher said, “This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you.You have no money.You come from an itinerant (四处奔波的) family.You have no resources.Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money.You have to buy the land.You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you'll have to pay large stud fees.There's no way you could ever do it.”

The story just tells us a truth that no matter what we are doing, we must do it properly.Otherwise, we cannot succeed even if we devote more time, money or energy to it.

Just take the example of me.After starting Grade 3, I began to stay up late studying till 11：00 in the evening.I thought my study would make great progress in this way, but the result was just the opposite.Lacking sleep, I often felt sleepy in class and was unable to concentrate on lessons.At last, instead of doing well, I fell behind.And then I realized that staying up late is not a good way for me.So I started a normal daily routine and my study was quickly improved.

The passage mainly tells us the definition of table manners.By showing us some unique table manners in different countries, it reminds us to value table manners.

I strongly believe that table manners should be taken seriously in our daily life.That's because table manners represent a whole group's culture and civilization, which means that appropriate manners have a positive influence on a group, and even a community.

Unfortunately, many people don't take table manners seriously.Some people, for example, always talk on their mobile phones or send text messages at table while they are getting together with their friends.Others shout while eating in public places, like in the canteens or restaurants, totally ignoring the feelings of those around them.All of these inappropriate behaviors at table show no respect to others.

To improve this situation, it is expected that teenagers should learn what acceptable table manners are at a very young age with their parents and relatives.At schools, teachers and students should work together to help everybody follow the accepted rules. Most importantly, adults have their responsibility to behave appropriately and set good example for the youth.

The Health of Chinese Youngsters—A Big Concern

A latest survey shows that the health of Chinese youngsters has greatly declined.Many Chinese students are facing a number of physical problems, such as obesity and shortsightedness, etc.Under the current educational system, marks seem to mean everything to students so students have to spend most of their time in doing endless homework in order to pass the college entrance examination.As a result, they do not sleep or exercise enough.

To improve students' health, we should reform the current educational system.Besides, we call for less homework, thus leaving students more time to sleep and take exercise and only in this way can the health of youngsters be greatly improved.

Helicopter parents are those who are always hovering around their children, doing almost everything for them.They're seemingly helping their children, but actually harming them, depriving them of their selfdependence.

I must admit that my parents love me very much, even though they sometimes criticize me.Last Monday, I wanted to chat with my American friend online.However, they didn't allow me to use the computer because they don't like me surfing the Internet frequently, or chatting alone with foreigners.Although they deeply care for me, it makes me unhappy that they often look through my personal things.Also, if I watch TV too much, they complain about my habits.

For a person, belief always plays an important role in his life.As a saying goes, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” Anyone who has strong belief can enjoy a colorful life.Otherwise, he will lose himself in his way of life.

Belief is so important that it can change one's fate.As a deaf man, Beethoven went on working with his strong belief in the last years of his life, though he was not able to hear his own fine music.Marie Curie, a famous scientist, also has set a good example.In 1898, Marie found a new element in the pitchblende.In order to prove her discovery, Marie and her husband worked hard.At last they saw the dim blue light of new element—radium.Her dream had come true.

From my personal point of view, it can be seen that one with firmlyheld belief is likely to be successful and master his own life.
