Many teachers believe that the responsibilities for learning lie with the students. 11 a long reading assignment is given, instructors expect students to be familiar with the information in the reading even if they do not discuss it in class or take an examination. The 12 student is considered to be one who is motivated to learn for the sake of 13 , not the one interested only in getting high grades. Sometimes homework is returned with brief written comments but without a grade. Even if a grade is not given, the student is 14 for the learning the material assigned. When research is assigned, the professor expects the student to take it actively and to complete it with 15 guidance. 三、阅读理解题 共 15 题 |
The moon has been described by songwriters and poets as a place for a romantic escape. We know of course that the moon is actually a very unfriendly environment for human beings. The moon is completely empty of water because the force of gravity on the moon is much less than on the earth. The back of a strong force of gravity has caused any water the moon may have had to leak out into space over the 4, 600 million years that it has been in existence. Of course, since there is no water, there is no plant life either. So if you go, bring your lunch. There is no air on the moon because its gravity is not sufficient to keep an atmosphere. Therefore travelers to the moon require not only oxygen and water but also protection against the rays that are not filtered by an atmosphere. No atmosphere also means no weather—no wind, no rain, no clouds. Temperatures on the moon are quite extreme, ranging from 110℃ to - 173℃. This occurs because there is no atmosphere to filter the sun's rays when it is shining and then to blanket in warm air when the sun goes down. These extremes of temperature are particularly unusual during a solar eclipse (日蚀), when the earth passes directly between the sun and the moon, for the time being, blotting out the sun's light. At such times the temperature on the moon falls very rapidly and then rises immediately as the sun emerges from the earth's shadow. The change in temperature may be as much as 200℃ one hour! Thus if you visit the moon, deciding what to wear could be a problem. | 题号: 21 本题分数:2.00 分 | The moon is much different from what has been described in poems and songs because ________. | A、it is too far away for most people to get there B、the environment on the moon is unfit for people to live in C、the poets and songwriters are ignorant of the moon D、poems and songs are not to be believed

p < class=' _1'> > | Though your parents probably meant to have your name last a lifetime, remember that when they picked it they'd hardly met you, and the hopes and dreams they cared for when they chose it may not match yours. If your name no longer seems to fit you, don't lose heart. Film stars change their names, and with some determination, you can, too. If you wish to pick up a new name, you don't need to make the change official. Under common law, all that is necessary is to start using the name of your choice. Remember, though, that you must use it everywhere—even with your mother—for it to become your legal name. Getting friends and fellow workers to call you Leach instead of Lola may be harder than any paperwork involved, but you'll probably meet official resistance, too. Be sure that no law prevents you from using the name you have chosen, unless you use it for the purpose of cheating. If the gas company tells you that you cannot get your bill under a new name, they are wrong. You don't have to show them any sort of court document. You have a right to be called by whatever name you choose. By this time, you've probably realized that changing your name is more difficult than replacing your furniture or changing your hair color, though the effect can be unusually encouraging. Don't care too much if you have to keep reminding others of your change of a new name—keep on, and your friends and lover will accept your new name. Good luck! | 题号: 26 本题分数:2.00 分 | You may wish to change your name because ________. | A、you are required to do so B、you don't mean to have your name last a lifetime C、you like to follow what film stars often do D、you may not like your parents' choice

p < class=' _1'> > | The temperature of your body should be always just the same, no matter whether the weather is hot or cold. That is why the doctor uses his thermometer when you are sick. When you are well, your temperature is ninety eight and six tenths degrees. If he finds it higher than that, it is a sure sign that something is wrong. The body keeps the same temperature all the time, because it balances the heat it produces and it gives off. It is always burning up food and producing heat. It can produce heat faster when it needs to or give off heat faster when it becomes too warm. Let's see how this happens. The heat of your body is given off chiefly through the skin. When you are cold, your skin is tight and shows “goose flesh”. When you get chilly, you must dance around to keep warm or else you will shiver. Then your muscle begin work, burn up fuel, and produce more heat. It is not pleasant to shiver, so you usually prefer warming up by exercise, or put on more clothes to keep heat in. When you are warm, the skin is loose and soft. It is so supplied with blood that heat is given off rapidly. If you get too warm, you begin to sweat, and more body heat is used in evaporating the moisture from you skin. You wear less clothing, too, in warm weather or warm room, so that warm can be given off freely. You feel less like exercising because your body is warm already, and the extra heat produced by exercise makes you uncomfortable. You can see from this way you feel differently in different kinds of weather. In summer, when it is warm, you feel tired and lazy. You do not care to work or play, but enjoy lying and doing nothing. When you get out of doors in winter, the cold air makes you feel lively. You want to run and play. | 题号: 31 本题分数:2.00 分 | Doctors take a patient's temperature when he is ill because ________. | A、the body keeps the same temperature all the time B、body temperature gives some information as to whether a person is ill or not C、a person's temperature is sure to change when something is wrong with him D、body temperature is a sign which show whether a person feels hot or cold
