我认为这个奖项并不是颁发给我个人的，而是给我的事业的。这项终生事业，长期与苦闷与辛劳相伴随，从事这项工作也并不是为了任何荣耀或财富，而是为了创造出前所未有的人类的精神财富。人们不难发现为了得到与之相称的目的和意义的金钱而从事这项工作的其他人，但是我乐于在欢呼声中做这样的事，通过这次盛会被无数毅然投身于相同痛苦与辛勤劳动的年轻男女倾听，而他们之中的某个人可能在将来的某一天也会站在我今天所在的位置。

我们今天的悲剧是早已被人们长期忍受的身体畏惧，并没有精神方面的难题。现在只存在一个问题：何时我将会被激怒？正因为如此，当前年轻人的写作都忘却了人类心灵自我斗争的问题，而这恰恰是能写出好作品的关键因素，因为只有人类心灵自我斗争的问题是唯一值得被大书特书并值得人们付出痛苦与辛勤努力的事。人们必须重新研究这些问题，必须告诫自己对待一切事物的卑鄙态度则是畏惧；并且，教导自己在自己的工作室里容不下其他的东西，除了古老的真理、公认的公理以及人内心的真实感受，这些包括爱情、荣誉、怜悯、尊严、同情和牺牲，缺乏了它们任何作品都是短暂的和注定失败的，而在人们领悟到这些之前，都会像是被诅咒般的辛劳。人们书写的是欲望而非爱情；他们书写失败，而这种失败是没有任何人损失任何价值的；他们所书写的成功，是没有希望，甚至没有遗憾或怜悯。他们的悲伤并不是刻骨铭心的，而是轻描淡写。他们所书写的是并非心灵而是器官。直到他们重新了解这些，他们才以俯瞰一切人和事的态度来写作。我拒绝接受世界末日的观点。我们能够说，人类是不朽的仅仅因为他们将会容忍这种情况，在此种情形下，末日审判改变，并从最后的泛着红光的夜晚里的最后一块礁石上褪去时，仍会有一个微不足道但不知疲倦的声音存在，我拒绝接受这个观点。我认为人类将不会仅仅只是忍受，他们将会占绝对的优势，他们是不朽的，并不是因为他们在众多生物中是唯一拥有不倦声音的群体，而是因为他们有灵魂，而这种灵魂有着同情、牺牲和容忍的精神。

作为诗人、作家的职责就是书写这类事情，他们有权去帮助人们，通过提升他们的心灵，提醒他们勇气、荣耀、希望、骄傲、怜悯、遗憾与牺牲，而这也将成为他们的荣光。诗人的诗歌不仅仅对人类的简单记录，它可以成为帮助人类容忍和获胜的精神支柱。

Your Majesty,Your Royal Highness,Ladies and Gentlemen:

I’m now standing here in this famous hall,as a son of a farmer from Gaomi Northeast Countryside in far-away China,and receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature,all this is felt like a fairy tale,but it is absolutely true.The experience after getting the prize for months,makes me realize the huge effects and untouchable dignity of the Nobel Prize.During this period,I have been always sitting on the sidelines,watching all that happens,since it’s a chance to know more about the world and also myself.

I’m well aware that there are so many writers more worthy of the Prize than me,and I believe that if they carry on writing,insist the literature is the glory of men and also the right given by the God,”She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.”(Proverbs 4∶9)

I’m also well aware that the literature has little effect on solving the problems of polities and economies,but its emphasis on human beings as long as the time.We often can’t realize its importance when we have it,but if someday we didn’t,the lives of men would be coarse and rude.For all the reasons above,I feel proud and heavy at the same time.

I want to express the admiration to the members of the Swedish Academy by this chance,and I believe,nothing can move all of you except the literature.I also express admiration to the whole world translators ,for the concept of world literature will not exist without your hard work,which is the connection of people from different areas.Of course,at this special moment,I still remind myself of the support from my families and friends,for their wisdom and friendship will still shine in my works.

Last but not the least,I feel grateful to my folks in my hometown,Gaomi of Shandong,China.I was,am,and will be one of yours forever;I still thank to the wonderful land raising me up——I am a storyteller,who grow up in this land,and all my work is to repay her goodness.
