movie synopsis
roman holiday is a charming romantic-comedy, bittersweet,a kind of cinderella tale in reverse.it is directed by one of hollywoods most skillful, distinguished, professional and eminent directors - william wyler.besides its memorable qualities also lie primarily in its two leading stars, who are both perfect in their roles.audrey hepburn audrey hepburn is radiantly beautiful and quietly spirited as the wispy young princess while gregory peck plays the role of journalist.
a runaway princess (hepburn) rebels against her royal obligations and escapes the insulated confines of her royal prison to find a prince charming commoner - an american reporter (peck) covering the royal tour in rome. the story was reportedly based on the real-life italian adventures of british princess margaret.
film appreciation
film is a change in the temporal conversion and audio-visual arts.a successful movie needs a wide range of visual and auditory.they include the shot,techniques,setting,framing,costume and props,symbols and motifs and so on.
for example,setting is the term used to refer the background of a particular scene.framing refers to the use of architectural features to framean action and to imbue it with added significance.costume and make-up are used to point out an individual characters personality and give it material embodiment.props have the same function,although they may also have a significance for the development of the plot.
next, we specifically appreciate roman holiday from two aspects-setting and costume.
setting
among its components, the picture selection and ideas play an important role in the success of movies.roman holiday is a delightful, captivating fairy-tale romance shot entirely on location in rome.the unique combination of the movie screen as the main theme of roman architecture and carefully chosen characters and storyline of
the movie is the highlight of the film.
from the outset the movie presents us with the world famous historical and cultural city-rome,which is called million city within a city and then roman is throughout the whole film.as the story continues, all the style of the old buildings located in various parts of the city have appeared.these sets become alive and vibrant with the story and characters.these buildings, as the films set designing, connect each fragment and promote the development of the whole story.

film clothing can increase the viewing of television.in different themes, different content and different times of the movie,actors clothes are different. this makes the audience feel more authentic when they watch movies just like looking at things that really happen there.
hepburn in roman holiday was designed with a real princess image.she looks tender and lovely when she wears a doll-like white lace gown at her first appearance.this is definitely a good girl type style which shows the expectations of the royal family of anne.white shirt, body sculpting dress, little white chest streamers,
shawl hair, these also make her look just like a simple girl.whether elegant princess,
or friendly girl next door ,modeling have given a perfect interpretation.art plays a huge role in shaping the role.
conclusion
the film received a phenomenal ten academy award nominations for a comedy.all in all, whether its design of the plot or its setting and costume, the film roman holiday become a classic movie which can not be copied.
