On Jan. 26th, Kobe Bryant, one of the most legendary (传奇的) NBA players in history, died in a terrible accident. He was 41 years old when a helicopter he was riding in crashed (坠毁), killing him and eight others, including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant.

There are many teenagers who are making a difference and trying to solve real-world problems. Amir Davis, 16, from New York, US, is one of them. Together with six other teens, Davis runs a special tutoring (辅导) program for other kids .

The program helps middle school students who are preparing for the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT). For those who want to study in the eight STEM-oriented public high schools in New York, they have to pass this test.

Davis is an African-American student in one of these schools himself. He started the program because he was sad to see the low admission rates (录取率) of black and Latino (拉丁裔的) students. There are only 10.4 percent of the students admitted to these high schools.

Davis’s father recently bought a building, so he turned the building into a tutoring center to help the students in his area. He tries to help kids prepare for the test while also helping them with their own schoolwork.

During the class, Davis and his team will first find out what the students are doing in their classroom. If they are having trouble, he and his team will walk them through it. With this help, the students can improve in a difficult subject, which can help them on tests and in the classroom.

But sometimes being a teen tutor can be a difficult thing. The most difficult thing for Davis is to learn how to be patient. He has to learn to not to be upset if his students don’t understand him quickly. However, teen tutors can also have their own strengths (优势). Davis thinks it’s better that he’s a teen because he knows the students better than adults might. Often, he can make jokes with the kids and make the class a bit easier.

37. Does Davis’s father agree with the program?
