3) 能够听懂一些描述人物特征的简单对话,完成学生用书中的 Let’s try部分

Teaching Aims:

1. Listen and say: Who’s your teacher? What’s he like?

2. Listen, say, read and write the following words: old, short, thin, tall, strong.

3. Complete the task in Let’s find out correctly.

4. Sing the song: My new teacher.

Analysis of the Teaching:

Important points:

Let’s learn部分的单词:old, short, thin, tall, strong, young, funny, kind.并要求结合所给句型替换关键词,在情景中学习新单词,并逐步学会听说读写单词old, short, thin, tall, strong.

Difficult points:

1. Let’s start. It is important for the students to practice in different ways.

2.单词thinth的发音.

Knowledge points:

1. 反义词,tall and short, old and young.

2. The usage of the adjectives (eg. Funny, kind, strong)

Analysis of the students:

The students can read the following words: old, short, thin, tall, strong, like, teacher, funny, math, English, art. But there are two new words: Young, thin. So we should pay attention to it.

Teaching Aids:

A tape recorder, cards of the new words, pictures of people.

Teaching procedure:

Step one. Warm -up

1. Everyday English: Ask four students to make dialogue freely.

2. Listen to the song: My new teacher” or Let’s chant.

3. Free talk. Eg:

T: Hello! Every one. Nice to meet you again . I MISS YOU VERY MUCH! What grade are you in?

Ss:We are in Grade 5.

T: Do you like your new English books?

Ss: Yes!

T: What are we going to talk about in Unit 1? Guess! What’s the topic of Unit 1?

(Teaching intention: Firstly: Make the students be interested in English by singing a song, saying a chant. Secondly: Revise the old knowledge and lay a foundation .)

Step Two. Preview

出示动物图片,利用以前学过的句型:“It has a long nose and a short tail. It’s so funny!” 引导学生复习strong, tall, short, thin等词, 为本课听说读写这些单词做好准备.

Step Three. Presentation

Let’s start &Let’s learn

1. 出示Let’s start 部分教学挂图.

T: Rabbit has many new teachers in her school. Do you have new teachers? 引导学生根据主情景图的提示描述新教师.The students can use the following scentence type:

I have a new…She/He’s …

(Teaching intention: Presentation of the new lesson.)

2. Show some pictures of the teachers and describe the pictures with the following words:

Tall, strong, kind, old, short, thin, funny, young.

3. Read the above words

(Teaching intention: Firstly: Make the students grasp the new lesson . Secondly: Revise the old knowledge. )

4. Pay attention to the pronunciation of the students.

Read in groups.

5. Read after the tape.

Step Four. Practice

1. Read the words in groups.

2. Write the following wordstall, strong, old, short, thin.

(Teaching intention: Make the students learn the new lesson by heart.)

3. Play games:

1)Guess , speak as the following:

Model: A: Who’s your art teacher?

B: …

A: What’s he like?

B: He’s short and thin.

2)Practice in groups with the following words: tall, strong, kind, old, short, thin, funny, young.

4. Listen to the song: My new teacher. Encourage the students to find the words which we learn in this class.

(Teaching intention: Firstly: Make the students be interested in practice by different games. Secondly: consolidate the new lesson.)

Step Five: Consolidation and extension

1. Describe mother and father.

2. Describe some students and let the rest guess who are they.

(Teaching intention: Make the students use the new lesson . Secondly: Foster the students’ ability to study on their own. Assess them fairly.)

3. A little test: Fill in the blanks.

Let’s Try. It’s the first time for the students to learn “Let’s Try.

Knowledge points:

1. 区分疑问词whowhat并作出正确回答.

2. 形容词的运用.

Analysis of the students:

1. The students can read the following words: old, short, thin, tall, strong, like, teacher, funny, math, English, art.

2. They can say the following sentences: Who’s …, What’s he like?

But they can’t use the words freely. Different practice will help them to use them freely.

1. Revision

Listen to a song: My new teacher.

2. Everyday English. 4 students say in the front of the classroom. May be as the following:

A: Good morning. Look! Our math teacher is young. She is short and thin.

B: This is our music teacher. She’s young. She’s very funny.

C: This is our Chinese teacher. She’s young. She’s thin and tall. ..

(Teaching intention: Firstly: Make the students be interested in English by singing a song, saying a chant. Secondly: Revise the old knowledge and lay a foundation.

Step two: Preview.

利用第一课时学的单词和句型:Who’s your art teacher? Mr Hu. What’s he like? He’s short and thin! 结合画有人物不同相貌特征的教学图片进行关键词的替换,引导学生复习上一课时所学的新词,为本课时学习句型做好准备.

Step three. Presentation.

1. Let’s try.

Listen to the tape three times and circle the right person.

2. 呈现Let’s talk中的人物图片,让学生快速记忆.然后教师分别说出教师姓氏:Mr Ma/Mr Liu…让学生回忆他/她是哪个科目的教师.

3. Let’s talk.

1) Listen to the tape and read after it.

2) Work in groups.

The students can speak as the following:

Who’s your math teacher/Art teacher/Science teacher/English teacher/ Art teacher/English teacher?

What’s he/she like?

4. Read after the tape again.

(Teaching intention: Foster the students to speak English in good intonation and pronunciation. Assess themselves and the others fairly.)

1. 教师自制或让学生制作人物卡片,并对人物进行描述,可利用句型:“Who’s this man/woman? What’s he/she like?

2. Play games: Act the dialogue in groups

(Teaching intention: Firstly: Make the students be interested in practice by different games. Secondly: consolidate the new lesson. Thirdly: Make the students learn to cooperate with the others.)

3. Good to know: In China, we get used to put the family name before the given name, but in west they get used to put the given name before the family name. e.g. 刘国强 Mr Liu.Not: Mr guoqiang. Carl Marx. Carl 是名字。 Marx 是姓。

(Teaching intention: Make the students know more about the culture of China and the western countries.)

Step five. Consolidation and extension

1. Guess some pictures with the following: What’s she like? Is she short? Is she strong? Who’s she?

(Teaching intention: Make the students use the new lesson. Secondly: Foster the students’ ability to study on their own. Assess them fairly.)

Important points:

To master the 4-skilled words and sentences and use them freely in reality

Difficult points:

The pronunciation of the follwing: ea,ee,,bl,br. It is important for the students to look for the rules of the pronunciation of the combination of the letters.

Knowledge points:

Analysis of the students:

The students can read the following words: old, short, thin, tall, strong, like, teacher, funny, math, English, art. They can say the following sentences: Who’s …, What’s he like? But they can’t use them freely. Different practice will help them to use them freely.

2. Ss read the text and answer the following questions.

3. Write the following sentences three times and pay attention to the handwriting of the students.

Who’s your English teacher? Mr Carter. What’s he like? He’s tall and strong.

(Teaching intention: Firstly, Make the students grasp the new lesson. Secondly, Revise the old knowledge. )

4. Read after the tape.

Step Three. Practice

1. Pair work.

Make the students into two groups. One group make the cards of the teachers, the other group make the cards of the following words: thin and tall, strong and short, thin and short, tall and strong. 制作完成后任意抽取其中两张进行整合对话练习.

(Teaching intention: Firstly: Make the students learn the new lesson by heart. Secondly: Make the students to learn to cooperate with the other people.)

*2. Pronunciation

1)教师出示一些含有相同字母组合的单词卡片,如/ee/ea/peach, tea, seat, jeans, beef, sheep, queen sleep.引导学生发现发音规律及区别.

(Teaching intention: Firstly: Make the students learn to find the rules of the pronunciation of the words. Secondly: Have a good habit of the pronunciation and the intonation.)
