浅谈“最高级”的表达形式

在近几年各省市的高考英语试题中，对形容词和副词最高级的考查屡见不鲜。学生在解答这类题时很容易出错。下面我就英语学习中，我们常常碰到的一些表达“最高级”意思，但却使用不同表达形式的现象，予以归纳总结，并附上高考例证，希望对老师和学生做单选题和理解某些词句有所帮助。
一﹑用形容词和副词的最高级形式来表达
常见句型如下：
1. 形容词最高级﹢名词/代词﹢表示范围的状语
例如：
a. She is the most active student in our class. 她是我们班最活跃的学生。
b. Of all the questions he has asked, this is the easiest one. 在他所问的问题中，这是最简单的一个。
2. 动词﹢副词最高级
例如：
a. He runs the fastest in the 100-metre race. 在一百米赛跑中他跑得最快。
b. Tom is the man who arrived here the earliest. 汤姆是最早到达这儿的人。
3. one of ﹢形容词或副词最高级
例如：
a. Shanghai is one of the biggest cities in our country. 上海是我国最大的城市之一
b. This is one of the books I like best. 这是我最喜欢的书之一。
4. 序数词﹢形容词或副词最高级﹢名词/代词
例如：
a. The Yangtze River is the first longest river in China. 长江是中国第一长河。
b. Africa is the second largest continent in the world. 非洲是世界第二大洲。
5. the ﹢形容词最高级﹢of ﹢名词
例如：
a. John has three sisters. Mary is the cleverest of the three. 约翰有三个姐妹。玛丽是三个中最聪明的。
b. The best of the novels is written by Lu Xun. 这些小说中最好的一部是鲁迅写的。
注：（NMET2005江苏卷）David has won the first prize in singing, he is still very excited now and feels_____ desire to go to bed.
A. the most B. more C. worse D. the least

二﹑用比较级与other 或else 连用的各种句式来表达
常见句型如下：
1. 比较级﹢than ﹢any other﹢单数名词
例如：
a. India produces more films than any other country in the world. 印度出产的电影比世界上任何其他国家都多。（印度出产的电影最多）
b. Mr Hill, who is our English teacher, is taller than any other teacher in our school.希尔先生是我们的英语老师，他比我们学校其他老师都高。（希尔先生在我们学校老师中最高）
2. 比较级﹢than ﹢all the other/all of the other ﹢复数名词
例如：
a. He speaks English more fluently than all the other boys in his class.他讲英语比他们班其他男孩都流利。（他是我们班讲英语最流利的）
b. This story is more interesting than all of the other stories in this storybooks.这个故事比这本故事书里的所有其他故事都有趣。（这个故事是这本故事书里最有趣的）
3. 比较级﹢than﹢anybody/anyone/anything﹢else
例如：
a. Some people think gold is better than anything else.有人认为金子比别的东西都好。（金子最好）
b. Mr White worked harder than anybody else in the workshop.怀特先生比同车间里别人工作都努力。（怀特先生工作最努力）
注：(NMET2005山东卷) Mr Smith owns ____ collection of coins than anyone else I have ever met.
A. larger B. a larger C. the larger D. a large
( 答案：B)
三﹑用否定词no， not， never ，no one， couldn’t等与比较级连用来表达
例如：
a. No one can be more careful than he is！没有人比他更细心！
﹦He is the most careful man.
b. --Is the book difficult for you to read?
--I think no book can be easier than this one. 我想没有书能比这本书更简单。
﹦I think it’s the least difficult book I’v ever read.
c. --Are you satisfied with what he has done?
--Not a little. It couldn’t be any better. 非常满意，它再好不过了！
﹦What he has done is the best.
c. The boy got the toy he dreamed of. Never had he felt in all his life so happy!
这个男孩得到了他梦想的玩具。他一生中从来没有感觉如此幸福过！
﹦That day he felt the happiest.
用这种形式表达最高级，高考中多次出现。
例如：

四﹑用nobody, nothing ,none等否定词与形容词、副词原级来表达
例如：
a. Nothing is so precious as time.没有什么东西比时间更宝贵。（时间最宝贵）
b. Nobody can run as fast as he does.没有人像他跑得那么快。（他跑得最快）
c. None was so deaf as those who won’t hear. 没有什么比充耳不闻更聋了。（充耳不闻的人是最聋的）
d. Few places on the planet are as packed with history as Ireland.地球上几乎没有什么地方比爱尔兰的历史更丰富。（爱尔兰的历史最丰富）
(NMET2008福建卷)—How do you find your new classmates?
—Most of them are kind. But____ is so good to me as Bruce.
A. none B. no one C. every one D. some one
(答案：A)
五﹑用nobody, nothing 等否定词与such, so连用来表达
例如：
Nobody can swim so fast! 没有人能跑得如此之快！
No other place on earth has such an amazing diversity of marine life.
世界上没有其他地方有如此令人惊异的多样化的海洋生物。
六﹑用一些表示最高级意思的词或词组来表达，像top, exceptional, second to none, the last, at (the)most, at least, at the latest, , at the worst, at one’s best，no match, no equal, maximum, minimum等
例如：
a. Professor Stephen Hawking is one of the top three physics experts in his particular field.史蒂芬·霍金教授是他那个领域里最顶级的三个物理学专家之一。
b. The Beijing Olympic Games are truly exceptional Games in the Olympic history .北京奥运会是奥运历史上一次真正的无与伦比的盛会。
c. He is second to none in maths in his class.在数学方面他在他们班首屈一指。
d. He is the last man to tell a lie. 他是最不可能说谎的人。，
e. The results of the tests will come out by June20 at the latest.考试结果将最晚在六月二十号以前出来。
f. He feels he is at his best today within this month.他感觉他今天的状态是这个月
来最佳的。
g. Ding Junhui is no match in playing billiards.在打台球方面没有人能与丁俊晖相匹敌。
h. The minimum height for an airhostess is 1.60 metres.当空姐最低的身高要求是1.60米。
