With job searches taking longer, there are more jobseekers bumping up against their severance deadline (or their own mental deadline that tells them they should have found a job by now)。

A popular question that I hear often is how long you should hold out for that dream job before moving to plan B。

The answer is different for everyone:

What is your time urgency? Have you run the actual numbers on your cash cushion runs out? The shorter the time you have, the wider your net has to be. Even if your dream company/ industry/ functional area is hiring, when you have a short timeframe, you need to have multiple searches well underway。

What is your risk appetite? Some people are energized by putting all their focus on their passion. Some people would be so nervous that they couldn’t do their best work. Some people are distracted doing more than one thing at a time so they have to decide on plan A or B, but can only choose one。

What are your dream job prospects? Are you looking to break into the subprime mortgage origination business, or are you looking into alternative energy? Some sectors are hotter than others. Growing industries will hire faster. Newer industries will hire people with less experience (since by default everyone has less experience in brand new industries) and are more open to career changers。

These are just some of the issues that you have to weigh. The work involves actually thinking through these issues – calculating your financial obligations v. your reserves, examining your will, researching your target sectors. It is not a single right or wrong answer, but more of a process and series of actions. In this way, it is less about waiting and more about doing. The best jobseekers are proactive and don’t wait。

Worldwide Panel LLC, a small market-research firm, is getting flooded with resumes for four vacancies in sales and information technology

However, officials expect to reject numerous applicants after asking them: 'What is your greatest weakness?' Candidates often respond 'with something that is not a weakness,' say Christopher Morrow, senior vice president of the Calabasas, Calif., concern. 'It is a deal breaker.'

The weakness question represents the most common and most stressful one posed during interviews. Yet in today's weak job market, the wrong answer weakens your chances of winning employment

Some people offer replies they mistakenly assume that bosses love, such as 'I am a perfectionist.' That response 'will be used against you' because you appear incapable of delegating, warns Joshua Ehrlich, dean of a master's program in executive coaching sponsored by BeamPines Inc., a New York coaching firm and Middlesex University in London

A careful game plan could help you cope with the shortcoming query in a way that highlights your fit for a desired position. Job seekers who field the question well demonstrate that they can 'take initiative and improve themselves,' Mr. Morrow says

The key? Thorough preparation. Career specialists suggest you take stock of your weaknesses, focusing on job-related ones that won't impede your ability to perform your duties. Tony Santora, an executive vice president for Right Management, a major outplacement firm in Philadelphia, says an information-technology manager flubbed a 2007 interview by choosing a personal foible as his reply: 'My true weakness is that I am a terrible cook.'

Rehearse your responses aloud, role play with a friend or videotape yourself -- but don't memorize your words. As you review the video, look for aspects 'you would like to change so you can continue to get better as you practice,' says Peggy Klaus, a leadership coach in Berkeley, Calif

The IT manager changed his tune after practice sessions with fellow job seekers and a counselor in Cincinnati for Right Management. He instead said he worked such long hours that he found it difficult to stay current with world events. So, he spent 30 minutes every evening catching up at home

When the manager pursued an opportunity at a global drug maker, his revamped response 'really resonated with the interviewer,' says Mr. Santora. The manufacturer hired the man

It's equally important that you consider an employer's corporate culture. While being interviewed by a start-up, 'you could say, 'My weakness is I get bored by routine,'' says Ben Dattner, a New York industrial psychologist

Last month, an aspiring executive director of a nonprofit group in suburban San Francisco nearly jeopardized his selection because his reply to a variation of the weakness question ignored one of its core values, according to Ms. Klaus, a board member there. Near the end of his interview, she wondered whether he might have problems with any aspects of the job. 'No, I am confident I could do it all,' the prospect declared

His flip comment dismayed Ms. Klaus, because she felt he lacked awareness of his weaknesses. She says his response raised doubts among board members that 'he would be able to take critical feedback,' an attribute the organization values highly

Because the man was well-qualified, the board gave him a second interview -- and demanded a fuller explanation of his weak spots. He said he had been 'unprepared for that question and nervous about coming out with a big fatal flaw,' then described his tendency to make decisions too fast during workplace crises. Board members' doubts disappeared, and they picked him for the nonprofit's top job

Ideally, your reply also should exclude the word 'weakness' and cover your corrective steps. Dubbing your greatest fault a 'window of opportunity' signals your improvement efforts should benefit the workplace, says Oscar Adler, a retired Maidenform Brands sales executive and author of the book, 'Sell Yourself in Any Interview.' For instance, he suggests, a salesman might note that he sold more after strengthening his facility with numbers

When an interviewer pops this nerve-wracking query, your body language counts as well. The wrong nonverbal cues undercut your credibility. Certain candidates hunch over, glance furtively around the room or wring their sweaty palms. 'They sort of look like they're being asked a question they can't handle,' says Mr. Adler

Maintaining eye contact, regular breathing and a broad smile impress employers that 'you're prepared for the weakness question,' says psychotherapist Pat Pearson, author of 'Stop Self-Sabotage!'

For the same reason, you seem thoughtful if you pause before responding. But don't wait too long. 'If you're going to take a minute,' Mr. Morrow cautions, 'I've just identified your weakness.'

Good morning! Dear teachers! First, thank you for giving me this opportunity for an interview. Id like to briefly introduce myself. My name is Liao Chunlan, born in Chongqing, will soon graduate from Sichuan International Studies University, Bachelor of Arts (文学学士), masters degree. I have been teaching English while I’ve been studying for postgraduate courses. Because my major is English language and literature, importantly, my research orientation is theories and practice of English language teaching. The teaching experience is very helpful for my study and my job. I have taught oral English in the International Exchange Department in Sichuan International Studies University. And I have taught business English in English Department of this university. Well, I also have the great honor to teach college English in Chongqing Education College. To be a teacher is my dream, to be a great teacher is my goal. In my spare time, I like reading, watching movies, surfing the Internet, doing sports, and travelling.

Strengths: Highly-motivated and determined

I dont know whether you have watched a film named The Pursuit of Happiness. It is a very touching movie acted by Will Smith. I love this movie very much. Because I find myself in this movie and I got a lesson from it. In this movie, the main character never lost hope and was devoted to his job and family, being passionate about life and future, and being calm while facing adversities. I can still remember what the father said to his son. "You got a dream, you gonna protect it." I am like him, full of motivation and determination, being strong and calm while facing difficulties.

Weaknesses: I'm afraid I haven't got a very good sense of directions, so I easily get lost. But I like to ask people and find the way from other means, for example, search the Internet on my mobile phone, and turn to the directions at bus stops. Another one is that I tend to have too high expectations on people, especially people who I care. Once my sister and friends told me that I expected them too highly which put too much pressure on them. This is true with regard to my students. Anyway, I am trying to find the balance between ideals/ hopes and reality.

Strong Heart Lyric

Everybody's had the blues

Days when it comes undone

This really shouldn't bother me

I know I'm not the only one

To break down and cry

I don't know why it has to be so hard

I could've left this road I'm on

Turned around a thousand times

Surrendered to the great unknown

Give up and leave it all behind

But this is my dream

My life and everything I've prayed for

It takes a strong heart

To see love through

It takes a lot of faith

More than I ever knew

To cry and never let it show

To hold on tight and not let go

It takes a strong heart

A strong heart and you

I keep it hidden deep inside

It's just a phase im going thru

I show the world a pretty face

But I'm not really foolin you

'Cause you know how I feel

You know how to heal

This wounded pride

It takes a strong heart

To see love through

It takes a lot of faith

More than I ever knew

To cry and never let it show

To hold on tight and not let go

It takes a strong heart

A strong heart and you

I don't know what I'd do without you

I couldn't do this alone

You give me faith and hope

And the courage to carry on and on and on

Good morning. It's a pleasure for me to be here in front of you to present myself. My name is Jennifer Wong, and I am a candidate for the position of Overseas Sales Representative.

My background and work experience are tailor-made for this position. I studied marketing as an undergrad here in Taiwan, and in 1995, I received my MBA from the School of Business, University of Texas. For five years, I have utilized my skills and knowledge as the Assistant Director of Exports for Magic Kitchen Supplies.

Action Appliances is a forward-looking company. I am aware that you are expanding into new markets, particularly in the U.S. Thus you are going to need aggressive, take-charge sales representatives. At Magic Kitchen, during my five years there, we expanded our U.S. market share by 25%. This is just one example of my ability to go out there and sell products.

A position with your company would be both a learning experience and a great opportunity. I look forward to becoming part of the Action team. Thank you.

With her background and education, she is tailor-made to run this company.

Master of Busine

If you want an MBA, it's important to get accepted to a good school.

Only the most forward-looking companies will adapt and profit in the 1990's.

We're looking for a take-charge company to distribute our new product in a competitive market.

After all of our TV sets were found to be defective, our market share dropped by 75%.

(Sample Traditional Interview Questions

1What can you tell me about yourself?(关于你自己,你能告诉我些什么?)

In high school I was involved in competitive sports and I always tried to improve in each sport I participated in. As a college student, I worked in a clothing store part-time and found that I could sell things easily. The sale was important, but for me, it was even more important to make sure that the customer was satisfied. It was not long before customers came back to the store and specifically asked for me to help them. I’m very competitive and it means a lot to me to be the best.

2 What would you like to be doing five years after graduation?(在毕业以后5年内你想做些什么?)

I hope to do my best I can be at my job and because many in this line of work are promoted to area manager, I am planning on that also.

3. What is your greatest strength?(你最突出的优点是什么?)

I feel that my strongest asset is my ability to stick to things to get them done. I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I finish a job and it turns out just as I’d planned. I’ve set some high goals for myself. For example, I want to graduate with highest distinction. And even though I had a slow start in my freshman year, I made up for it by doing an honor’s thesis.

4. What is your greatest weakness?(你最大的弱点是什么?)

I'm such a perfectionist that I will not stop until a job is well done.
5. How do you feel about your progress to date?"(对于你至今所取得的进步你是怎样看的?)

I think I did well in school. In fact, in a number of courses I received the highest exam scores in the class. As an intern for the X Company, I received some of the highest evaluations that had been given in years.

6.Why did you choose peking university?

7.Why did you choose MBA?

8.What would you like to be doing five years after graduation?

9.What has been your greatest accomplishment?

10.Describe your greatest strengths and weaknesses.

  1. I have been for over five years in the employ of an exporting company.

1. "What can you tell me about yourself?" This is not an invitation to give your life history. The interviewer is looking for clues about your character, qualifications, ambitions, and motivations.

The following is a good example of a positive response.

I'm very competitive and it means a lot to me to be the best. After I joined the work, I worked hard and tried to grasp more knowledge that can support me to achieve my goal---to become a material manager before 30 years old.

  2. "Why do you want to work for us? This is an obvious question and, if you have done your research on the company, you should be able to give a good reason. 0rganize your reasons into several short sentences that clearly spell out your interest.

Your company is a leader in the field. Your company is a Fortune 5O0 company. Your management is very progressive.

 3. "Why should I hire you?" Once again, you should not be long winded, but you should provide a summary of your qualifications. Be positive and show that you are capable of doing the job.

Based on the work that I have participated in and the related  experiences I have had, I can do the job.

  4. "How do you feel about your progress to date?" Never apologize for what you have done.

I think I did well in past years. In fact, I even worked as a purchasing leader I worked in Delta after 1 year, As an green hand  for Slr, I was rewarded as Slr star in 2005.

  5. "What would you like to be doing five years from now?" Know what you can realistically accomplish. You can find out by talking to others about what they accomplished in their first five years with a particular company.

I hope to be the best I can be at my job and I only have 5 years to achieve my goal---to be  promoted to material manager, I am planning on that also.

6. "What is your greatest weakness?" You cannot avoid this question by saying that you do not have any, everyone has weaknesses.

The best approach is to admit your weakness but show that you are working on it and have a plan to overcome it. If possible, cite a weakness that will work to the company's advantage.

When I began to work, I was not very care of my desk cleaning, one time, I missed a important document before a important meeting with supplier, it made me faced a big trouble, after that meeting, I asked our department assistant to help me to clean my desk and keep the habit till now.

  7. "What is your greatest strength"?" This is a real opportunity to toot your own horn. Do not brag or get too egotistical, but let the employer know that you believe in yourself and that you know your strengths.

I feel that my strongest asset is my ability to stick to things to get them done. I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I finish a job and it turns out just as I'd planned. I've set some high goals for myself. For example, I want to be promoted as a material manager before 30 years, And even though I had a slow start in my freshman year, I made up for it by hard work after that.

Tricks in Job Hunting Interview

Here are good answers to some of the tougher questions asked in job interviews. If you can smoothly supply answers like these during the interview, you are bound to make a good impression.

  1. What is important to you in a job?

Mention specific rewards other than a paycheck for example, challenge, the feeling of accomplishment, and knowing that you have made a contribution.

In Delta, I got a 10% cost down for mechanical parts in 2003,total saved material purchasing cost 75K$,and in 2004,localized for some category material, such as heat sink, wire harness etc, total cost down 30%.In Slr, I was rewarded as a Slr star in 2005.

  2. Why do you want to work for this organization?

Cite its reputation, the opportunities it offers, and the working conditions. Stress that you want to work for this organization, not just any organization.

Because your company is the leader of this field and have a good tendency currently and the future. In addition, you offered a good opportunity for me to grasp the knowledge and skills I am wanna.

       3. Why should we employ you?

Point to your academic preparation, job skills, and enthusiasm about working for the firm. Mention your performance in school or previous employment as evidence of your ability to learn and to become productive quickly. If the job involves management responsibilities, refer to past activities as proof of your ability to get along with others and to work as part of a team.

I did well in my previous job and I grasped the knowledge and skills your required. In Delta, I got a 10% cost down for mechanical parts in 2003,total saved material purchasing cost 75K$, and in 2004,localized for some category material, such as heat sink, wire harness etc, total cost down 30%. In Slr, I was rewarded as a Slr star in 2005.

  4. If we hire you, how long will you stay with us?

Answer by saying along these lines:

As long as my position here allows me to learn and to advance at a pace with my abilities.

  5. Can we offer you a career path?

I believe you could, once I know the normal progression within the organization. Can you tell me about it?

  6. What are your greatest strengths?

Give a response like one of the following: "I can see what needs to be done and do it", "I‘m wiling to make decisions", "I work well with others," "I can organize my time efficiently."

I feel that my strongest asset is my ability to stick to things to get them done. I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I finish a job and it turns out just as I'd planned.

  7. What are you greatest weakness?

Identify one or two, such as the following:" I tend to drive myself too hard", " I expect others to perform beyond their capacities", " I like to see a job done quickly, and I‘m critical if it isn‘t." Note these weaknesses could also be regarded as desirable qualities. The trick with this question is to describe a weakness so that it could also be considered a virtue.

When I began to work, I was not very care of my desk cleaning, one time, I missed a important document before a important meeting with supplier, it made me faced a big trouble, after that meeting, I asked our department assistant to help me to clean my desk and keep the habit till now.

8. What didn‘t you like about previous jobs you‘ve held?

Discuss the things you didn‘t like, but avoid making slighting reference to any of your former employers.

Because my previous company demarcated the work very complex and it seemed make some process too complex and hard to follow up.

  9. How do you spend your leisure time?

Mention a cross section of interests-active and quiet, social and solitary -- rather just one.

I like sports, such as basketball, tennis ball etc, I usually take some time to attend such games when I free.

  10. Are there any weaknesses in your education or experience?

Take stock of your weaknesses before the interview. Practice discussing them in a positive light. You‘ll find that they are minor when discussed along with all the positive things you have to offer.

I was not good at English when I was in high school, but when I joined the university, I found it's very important in my future life, so ii paid more attention to that and made some progress.

  11. Where do you want to be five years from now?

Saying that you‘d like to be president is unrealistic, yet few employers want people who are content to sit still. You might say, "in five years, I‘d like to have my boss‘s job. " If you can‘t qualify for your boss‘s job by then, you may not be the fright candidate.

In five years, I‘d like to have my boss‘s job, to be promoted as a material manager.

  12. What are your salary expectations?

If you are asked this at the outset, it‘s best to say, "Why don‘t we discuss salary after you decide whether I‘m right for the job? "But if the interviewer asks this after showing real interest in you, speak up. She or he will probably try to meet your price. If you need a clue about what to ask for, say, " Can you discuss your salary range with me?"

  13. What would you do if....?

This question is designed to test your reposes. For example: "What would you do if your computer broke down during an audit?" Your answer there isn‘t nearly so important as your approach to the problem. And a calm approach is best. Start by saying, "One thing I might do is ..." Then give several alternative choices.

I think every company has its own salary align for any title. Basically, I will follow the alignment of your company, but I also expect to get a salary over 5K.

  14. What kind of position are you interested in? J

ob titles and responsibilities vary from firm to firm . So state your skills instead, such as "I‘m good at figure work," and the positions that require these skills , such as "accounts payable."

  15. Tell me something about yourself.

Say you‘ll be happy to talk about yourself, and ask what the interviewer wants to know. If this point is clarified, respond. If not, tell why you feel your skills will contribute to the job and the organization. This question gives you a great opportunity to sell yourself.

I'm very competitive and it means a lot to me to be the best. After I joined the work, I worked hard and tried to grasp more knowledge that can support me to achieve my goal---to become a material manager before 30 years old.

  16. Do you have any questions about the organization or the job? Employers like a candidate who is interested in the organization. so this is a perfect time to convey your interest and enthusiasm.

17. Tell me your working experience.

1. ABC corporation. May I help you?

但基本上 “May I help you?“ “How can I help you?“ 都很常见就是了.
不过如果是机器接的电话, 则听到的多半是这样, “Thanks for calling ABC corporation, if you know your party’s last name or extention, press 1. If you want to recieve information or publication, press 2. If you want to talk to the operator, press pound sign or remain on the line.“ (感谢你打电话到 ABC , 如果你知道你要找的人的姓或是分机号码, 请按 1, 如果是想要本公司的简介或出版品, 请按 2, 如果是要找总机, 请按 #, 或是请别挂断.

    2. And you are?

如果人家打电话来是要找你的上司, “May I talk to your manager?“ (我能不能跟你们经理讲话?) 最客气的问法是, “Whom I am speaking with?“ 或是 “Whom am I talking to?“ (我正在跟谁讲话呢?)

来访的客人如果说, “I’m looking for Mr. Wolf.“ (我要找伍夫先生) 接待小姐就可以反问他, “And you are?“ (你是?)

    3. I’ll put her on the phone. Just a second.

Put someone on the phone 什么时候要结婚啦, 这时如果你实在不想跟她讲了, 就可以说, “Could you please just put her on the phone?“ (你能不能请她来听电话啊?) I’ll put her on the phone. Just a second.“ (, 我会请她听电话, 请稍等一下.)

例如同样的情况你可以说, “I’m transferring your call.“ 或是 “I’m redirecting your call.“ (我帮你转接到分机给她.) I’ll put you through.“

    4. Would you mind holding for one minute?
在美国如果有机会打电话给客户服务 (Customer Service)部门, 如果没意外的话都会听到以下的电话录音, “All of our representatives are currently busy serving their customers. Your call will be answered in approximate 5 minutes“ (我们所有的客服人员都在忙着服务他们的顾客, 请等五分钟后, 就会有人接听你的电话), 然后十分钟过去了, “Please continue to hold, your call is very important to us.“ (请继续等候, 你的来电对我们非常重要).

但是如果一分钟到了你还没忙完, 则最好再说一次, “Sorry, I am still on the phone. Could you hold for another minute?“ (对不起, 我还在讲电话, 能不能再请你稍候一分钟.)

  5. He’s out for lunch. Would you like to try again an hour later?

受到中文的影响, 许多人要讲某人‘出去’吃午餐了常会说成, “He went out for lunch.“ 其实这个 went 是多余的, 通常老美只讲 be out for something 就行了. 如果要再简化一点, 单说, “He is on lunch.“ 或是 “He is on (lunch) break.“ (他正在休息时间.)

例如你可以建议别人, “Why don’t you call back in 30 minutes?“ (你何不 30 分钟后再打来呢?) 第二种选择就是请对方留言, 客气一点的讲法是, “May I take your message?“ 或是 “Would you like to leave a message?“ (你想留言吗?)

    6. She is not here but you can call her machine.

例如 “You can call her machine.“ 就是说, 你可以打她的电话答录机留言. 如果是 “I want to check on my machine.“ 则是说我要检查电话答录机里的留言.

通常人家讲 someone’s machine 时百分之九十九都是指电话答录机而言, 你可别傻傻地问人, “Answering machine?“ 像六人行 (Friends) 里有一集 Chandler 说, “I got her machine.“ 结果 Joey 还呆呆地问他, “Her answering machine?“ Chandler 就讽刺 Joey 的无知说, “No. interestingly enough, her leaf blower (machine) picked up the phone.“ (很有趣喔, 不是电话答录机喔!

    7. I’m interested in your CRM software. Can you give me an quote?

如果只是要请对方大略地估个价钱, 你可以说, “Can you give me a quote?“ 或 “Can you give me an estimate?“ 但是提醒大家, 这个 quote 发 /kwot/ 的音, 记得要特别强调那个 /wo/ 的音, 不然老美会以为你在说 coat /kot/ 或是 court /kort/ 这个字.

另外, estimate 和 quote 也可以指‘报价单’而言, 例如你可以要求别人, “Can you send me a sample with an estimate ASAP?“ (能不能请你尽快送一份样品和报价单给我?)

    8. I’d like to place an order for a DL-1100 color printer.

以前每次为了买东西而打电话给人家, 我都直接说, “I want to buy this, I want to buy that.“ 当然啦! 如果像是公司要采购商品时, 最好正式一点用 order, 或是更完整一些说 place an order for, 例如 “I want to order a color printer.“ 或是, “I want to place an order for a color printer.“ 都是不错的用法.

    9. I’m calling to check my order status.

Can you check if you’ve shipped it or not.“ 这句话听起来是不是蛮笨的? 后来我暗中观察, 同样的情况原来老美居然都简简单单地说 “I want to check my order status.“ 或是 “I want to track my order status.“ 就能完整地表达这句话的意思, 真是太神奇了.

    10. I was referred to you by Mr. Gordon.

例如最常用的招数, 我是某某人介绍来的, 就是 “I was referred to you by someone.“ (注意, 介绍在这里用 refer 而不是用 introduce.) 如果你今天拿到了该公司的折价卷, 则最好也是开宗明义地说, “I got your number from a coupon, which says your product is 50% off today.“ (我是根据你们折价卷上的号码打过来的, 它上面写着今天产品五折优待.)

对话双方:Interviewer(I)面试官Applicant(A)求职者。

例1:Q:Would you please say something about yourself?(请你谈谈自己的情况好吗?)

或者:What can you tell me about yourself?(关于你自己,你能告诉我些什么?)

A:Do you want me to talk about my personal life or to say something about the job?

2:I:Give me a summary of your current job description.

A:I have been working as a international sales representative for one years. To be specific,I do system analysis, trouble shooting and provide software support.

3:Why should I hire you?(为什么我应该聘用你?)

A:With my strong academic background,I am capable and competent.

4:Why do you want to work for us?(你为什么想为我们工作?)

A:One reason that I would like to be employed with your firm is that you are dealing with important export trade.I wouldlook

5:What goal shave you set and how did you meet them?

A:I now wish to enter an company ,which can give the international trade department enough support, like some paid B2B websites, attending some

necessary and important lighting industry exhibitions, which can promote our company and our products, and can make the company to be wellkonwn by more customers, and also can help the international sales representatives to get more orders.moreovere,i hope the company has more opportunity for advancement, which can ecourage the employees to work much harder, and do their best to make much higher achievement for the company.

6:I:What provide you with a sense of accomplishment.(什么会让你有成就感?)

A:Doing my best to work for the company, and reach my sales target each time, and show my value for the company.(为贵公司竭力效劳。)

例7:I:How do you handle your failure?(你怎样对待自己的失败?)

A:None of us was born"perfect".I am sure I will be given a second chance to correct my mistake, but its just the second, not to many.

8:I:How do you normally handle criticism?(你通常如何处理别人的批评?)

A:Silence is golden.Just don‘t say anything;otherwise the situation could be come worse.I do,however, accept constructive criticism.

9:I:What is most important in your life right now?(眼下你生活中最重要的是什么?)

A:To get a job in a suitable company ,just like your company. I hope to demonstrate my ability, experience and talents in this position adequately.

10:I:How long would you like to stay with this company?(你会在本公司服务多久呢?)

A:I will stay as long as I can continue to learn and to grow in my field.

11:I:What range of pay-scale are you interested in?(你喜欢那一种薪水层次标准?)

A:Money is important, but the responsibility that goes along with this job is what interests me th emost.(薪水固然重要,但这工作伴随而来的责任更吸引我。)

例12:I:Do you know what’s involved in a position like this?

A:Yes.I know exactlywhat’s involved.I am a hardworker and will perform to the best of my ability."

面试时,着重考察应聘者“怎样表现自己(How it is performed)”。

(Professional Skill):

13:I:What make you think you would be a success in this position?

A:I graduated from Beijing University in 2003,and hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Therefore,I have a firm knowledge background in this field. My graduate school training combined with my internship should qualify me for this particular job.I am sure I will be successful.

14:I:How do you rate yourself as a professional?(你如何评估自己是位专业人员呢?)

A:With my strong academic background,I am capable and competent.I think you run it needs am an like me.

15:I:Why do you think you are qualified for this position?

A:I have finished three new projects, and I am sure I can apply my experience to this position.

16:I:Do you think you are the right person for the job?

A:Yes.Be cause I do believe that my qualifications and experience perfectly match what you are looking for.I have the experience you are looking for,and think I will be one of the be stin this field.

17:I:Why do you think you are qualified for this position?

A:I have spent the last 3 years working specially in this field.I think I can bring a lot of experience and knowledge with me.With my qualifications and experience,I feel I am hardworking, responsible and diligent in any project I undertake.Your organization could benefit from my analytical and interpersonal skills.

自我介绍时应该记住“3P原则”:Positive(自信),Personal(个性),Pertinent(中肯)。

所以回答要沉着、自信(Lacks confidence and poise),而不是心神不宁(is nervous andillatease)。

I‘d like to hear your opinion.(我很想听听你的意见。)

So far as that isc oncerned, you must have understood my determination.

1.BodyLanguage(肢体语言)

Most interviewers greet the applicant with a handshake.Make sure that your claspis firm.Being jittery about the interview can resultin cold, clammy hands, which create anegative impression. Therefore, make sure yourhands are warmand dry. Before leaving, try to find out exactly what action will follow the interview and when it will happen.Shakehands as you say good-bye and thank the interviewerf or spending time with you.

Don’t shakehand with the interviewer until he/she extends his/her hand.(人家伸手时才握手。)Don’t sit down until invited to do so by the interviewer.(人家未请,先别坐下。)

2.Eye Contact(眼神的交流)

Always maintain eye contact with the interviewer.Makeeye-contact with the interviewer during theinterview.Show that you are confident by looking straight at the person.

Fails to look interviewer in the eye不敢正视。

3.Active Listener(做一个积极的聆听者)

I‘m grateful for your concern about the job at our company.

Thank you for your concern about our recruitment,We shall inform you as soon as we have made our decision.

We have known something abou tyou. You know,we have to interview several applicants we make our final decision.

There is not prepared for interview.(对面试无准备)。 Lacks planning for career;has no purpose or goals.(对自己的事业没有安排;没有目标和理想。)

Is unwilling to start at the bottom;expects too much too soon.(不愿从基层干起;要求太多。)

Has a poor personal appearance.(衣着形象不佳。)

Has limp,weak handshake.(握手时软弱无力。)

Don’t talk with your mouthfull.

Don’t blow your nose or use the tooth pick attable.

You're in the pink! 当然不错,可如果你说“You're in the pink!”

2.He is bouncy他精力充沛美国人通常说:“He is bouncy,而不说“He is energetic”,牢记一些日常对话中的句式是你生活中一把必备的钥匙。如:久仰,“I get mind of you”“I heard a lot about you轻松得多。

3.Did you get lost? 若说“Did you get lost?”,则更能让他感到歉疚,可千万别说成“Get lost!”,那可是让人滚蛋的意思。

4.Do you have the time?别人征求你的意见,问能否开窗户等,你要是说“You can do that就有点土了,用一句“Do you have the time?” 实际上,问他人的姓名,地址都可以这么用:“May I have your name?”要比“What’s your name?”

5.I would rather not say。别人问你不愿公开的问题,切勿用“It’s my secret, don’t ask such a personal question回答,一来显得你没有个性,二来也让对方觉得你气短。你可以说“I would rather not say”(还是别说了吧)

6.It’s on the tip of my tongue。有时候,你想说什么,可是想不起来,你可以说“Well…”“Let me see“Just a moment“It’s on the tip of my tongue等。

7.While I remember…交谈时,你可能会转换话题,不要只说“By the way”,实际上,“To change the subject”“Before I forget”“While I remember”“Mind you”都是既地道又受欢迎的表达。

8.I got it。 用“I got it就顺耳得多,要是不懂就说“I’m not clear about it。不过如果你会说“It’s past my understanding“It’s beyond me,你的教师一定会惊讶不已的。

1. So, tell me a little about yourself. You don’t need to explain everything from birth to present day. Relevant facts about education, your career and your current life situation are fine.

2. Why are you looking (or why did you leave you last job)? This should be a straightforward question to answer, but it can trip you up. Presumably you are looking for a new job (or any job) because you want to advance your career and get a position that allows you to grow as a person and an employee. It’s not a good idea to mention money here, it can make you sound mercenary. And if you are in the unfortunate situation of having been downsized, stay positive and be a***rief as pos***le about it. If you were fired, you’ll need a good explanation. But once again, stay positive.

3. Tell me what you know about this company. Do your homework before you go to any interview. Whether it’***eing the VP of marketing or the mailroom clerk, you should know about the company or business you’re going to work for. Has this company been in the news lately? Who are the people in the company you should know about? Do the background work, it will make you stand out as someone who comes prepared, and is genuinely interested in the company and the job.

4. Why do you want to work at X Company? This should be directly related to the last question. Any research you’ve done on the company should have led you to the conclusion that you’d want to work there. After all, you’re at the interview, right? Put some thought into this answer before you have your interview, mention your career goals and highlight forward-thinking goals and career plans.

5. What relevant experience do you have? Hopefully if you’re applying for this position you have bags of related experience, and if that’s the case you should mention it all. But if you’re switching careers or trying something a little different, your experience may initially not look like it’s matching up. That’s when you need a little honest creativity to match the experiences required with the ones you have. People skills are people skills after all, you just need to show how customer service skills can apply to internal management positions, and so on.

6. If your previous co-workers were here, what would they say about you? Ok, this is not the time for full disclosure. If some people from your past are going to say you’re a boring A-hole, you don’t need to bring that up. Stay positive, always, and maybe have a few specific quotes in mind. “They’d say I was a hard worker” or even better “John Doe has always said I was the most reliable, creative problem-solver he’d ever met.”

7. Have you done anything to further your experience? This could include anything from night classes to hobbies and sports. If it’s related, it’s worth mentioning. Obviously anything to do with further education is great, but maybe you’re spending time on a home improvement project to work on skills such as self-sufficiency, time management and motivation.

8. Where else have you applied? This is a good way to hint that you’re in demand, without sounding like you’re whoring yourself all over town. So, be honest and mention a few other companie***ut don’t go into detail. The fact that you’re seriously looking and keeping your options open is what the interviewer is driving at.

9. How are you when you’re working under pressure? Once again, there are a few ways to answer thi***ut they should all be positive. You may work well under pressure, you may thrive under pressure, and you may actually PREFER working under pressure. If you say you crumble like aged blue cheese, this is not going to help you get your foot in the door.

10. What motivates you to do a good job? The answer to this one is not money, even if it is. You should be motivated by life’s noble pursuits. You want recognition for a job well done. You want to become better at your job. You want to help others or be a leader in your field.

11. What’s your greatest strength? This is your chance to shine. You’re being asked to explain why you are a great employee, so don’t hold back and stay do stay positive. You could be someone who thrives under pressure, a great motivator, an amazing problem solver or someone with extraordinary attention to detail. If your greatest strength, however, is to drink anyone under the table or get a top score on Mario Kart, keep it to yourself. The interviewer is looking for work-related strengths.

 12. What’s your biggest weakness? If you’re completely honest, you may be kicking yourself in the butt. If you say you don’t have one, you’re obviously lying. This is a horrible question and one that politicians have become masters at answering. They say things like “I’m perhaps too committed to my work and don’t spend enough time with my family.” Oh, there’s a fireable offense. I’ve even heard “I think I’m too good at my job, it can often make people jealous.” Please, let’s keep our feet on the ground. If you’re asked this question, give a small, work-related flaw that you’re working hard to improve. Example: “I’ve been told I occasionally focus on details and miss the bigger picture, so I’ve been spending time laying out the complete project every day to see my overall progress.”

13. Let’s talk about salary. What are you looking for? Run for cover! This is one tricky game to play in an interview. Even if you know the salary range for the job, if you answer first you’re already showing all your cards. You want as much as pos***le, the employer wants you for as little as you’re willing to take. Before you apply, take a look at salary.com for a good idea of what someone with your specific experience should be paid. You may want to say, “well, that’s something I’ve thought long and hard about and I think someone with my experience should get between X & Y.” Or, you could be sly and say, “right now, I’m more interested in talking more about what the position can offer my career.” That could at least buy you a little time to scope out the situation. But if you do have a specific figure in mind and you are confident that you can get it, I’d say go for it. I have on many occasions, and every time I got very close to that figure (both below and sometimes above).

14. Are you good at working in a team? Unless you have the I.Q. of a houseplant, you’ll always answer YES to this one. It’s the only answer. How can anyone function inside an organization if they are a loner? You may want to mention what part you like to play in a team though; it’s a great chance to explain that you’re a natural leader.

15. Tell me a suggestion you have made that was implemented. It’s important here to focus on the word “implemented.” There’s nothing wrong with having a thousand great ideas, but if the only place they live is on your notepad what’s the point? Better still, you need a good ending. If your previous company took your advice and ended up going bankrupt, that’s not such a great example either. Be prepared with a story about an idea of yours that was taken from idea to implementation, and considered successful. 16. Has anything ever irritated you about people you’ve worked with? Of course, you have a list as long as your arm. But you can’t say that, it shows you a***eing negative and difficult to work with. The best way to answer this one is to think for a while and then say something like “I’ve always got on just fine with my co-workers actually.”
Use this question as a chance to show that you are a team player: “The only people I have trouble with are those who aren’t team players, who just don’t perform, who complain constantly, and who fail to respond to any efforts to motivate them.” The interviewer is expecting a response focused on personality and personal dislikes. Surprise her by delivering an answer that reflects company values

17. Is there anyone you just could not work with? No. Well, unless you’re talking about murderers, racists, rapists, thieves or other dastardly characters, you can work with anyone. Otherwise you could be flagged as someone who’s picky and difficult if you say, “I can’t work with anyone who’s a Bronco’s fan. Sorry.”

18. Tell me about any issues you’ve had with a previou***oss. Arrgh! If you fall for this one you shouldn’t be hired anyway. The interviewer is testing you to see if you’ll speak badly about your previous supervisor. Simply answer this question with exteme tact, diplomacy and if necessary, a big fat loss of memory. In short, you’ve never had any issues.
The answer to 18 is completely wrong. I am a director at a major media company’s interactive division. Our company is expanding and I am almost in a constant state of hiring. I ask a variation of this question in every single interview and if a candidate has never had one issue or disagreement with anyone, (I stated a variation: I ask if it has happened with anyone in the workplace) I peg them as a liar and reject them immediately.
I went well with my previou***oss. If there is an conflict, I will be open mind and talk about facts. once decision is made, I execute it well.

19. Would you rather work for money or job satisfaction? It’s not a very fair question is it? We’d all love to get paid a Trump-like salary doing a job we love but that’s rare indeed. It’s fine to say money is important, but remember that NOTHING is more important to you than the job. Otherwise, you’re just someone looking for a bigger paycheck.

20. Would you rather be liked or feared? I have been asked this a lot, in various incarnations. The first time I just drew a blank and said, “I don’t know.” That went over badly, but it was right at the start of my career when I had little to no experience. Since then I’ve realized that my genuine answer is “Neither, I’d rather be respected.” You don’t want to be feared because fear is no way to motivate a team. You may got the job done but at what cost? Similarly, if you’re everyone’***est friend you’ll find it difficult to make tough decisions or hit deadlines. But when you’re respected, you don’t have to be a complete bastard or a lame duck to get the job done.

21. Are you willing to put the interests of X Company ahead of your own? Again, another nasty question. If you say yes, you’re a corporate whore who doesn’t care about family. If you say no, you’re disloyal to the company. I’m afraid that you’ll probably have to say yes to this one though, because you’re trying to be the perfect employee at this point, and perfect employees don’t cut out early for Jimmy’***a***all game.
it is situational. if you… ; if you …. Ethics and professionalism

22. So, explain why I should hire you. As I’m sure you know, “because I’m great” or “I really need a job” are not good answers here. This is a time to give the employer a laundry list of your greatest talents that just so happen to match the job description. It’s also good to avoid taking potshots at other potential candidates here. Focus on yourself and your talents, not other people’s flaws.

23. Finally, do you have any questions to ask me? I’ll finish the way I started, with one of the most common questions asked in interviews. This directly relates to the research you’ve done on the company and also gives you a chance to show how eager and prepared you are. You’ll probably want to ask about benefits if they haven’t been covered already. A good generic one is “how soon could I start, if I were offered the job of course.” You may also ask what you’d be working on. Specifically, in the role you’re applying for and how that affects the rest of the company. Always have questions ready, greeting this one with a blank stare is a rotten way to finish your interview. Good luck and happy job hunting.
ponder for a moment, and then ask your interviewer “what aspect of your job do you find most challenging”.
I would ask the interviewer, “Why do you like to work here?”

24. Where do you want to be in 5 to years?
They dont want to hear in the same job you are interviewing for. Ultimately, the HR people are searching for someone who can handle the job now, and has the potential to grow into a high level management job in the future. Do you have those goals too?

25. Would you rather work for a big company or a small one?
Favorite answer: I’d treat any company like it was my own regardless. Total ownership of the situation can get you a long way.
General , the worst answer was “I don’t know.” I’ve since learned that “it depends,” with a couple of examples, is perfectly appropriate
