TherarethreemajorinternationalfilmfestivalsinEurope:CannesFilmFestival,France;BerlinFilmFestival,Germany;Italy,VeniceFilmFestival.Amongthemanyfilmfestivals,thethreemajorinternationalfilmfestivalsinEuropehavethemostfar-reachingimpact,boththePalmed'Orprize,theGoldenBearorGoldenLionAward,anditsauthority,artistic,scientific,areenoughtorivaltheAcademyAwards.VeniceInternationalFilmFestivalTheworld'sfirstinternationalfilmfestival,heldeachfall,fortwoweeks.August6,1932,bytheBenitoMussolinifoundedtheItaliancityofVenice.Themainpurposeistoraisetheleveloffilmart,film-makerstopromoteexchangesandcooperationtofacilitatetradeforthedevelopmentofthefilm.From1932to1942,awardsweredividedintothebestfeaturefilms,documentaries,shortfilms,Italianfilms,foreignfilms,aswellasbestdirector,screenwriter,actorsandactresses,photography,musicandotherawards.TheearlyestablishmentoftheVeniceFilmFestivaldidnothavetheinternationalsignificanceoftheGoldenLionaward,butthelocalcolorheavy,andestablisheditsworld-classfilmfestival.RelativetotheCannesandBerlin,VeniceFilmFestival,participantspaymoreattentiontoinnovationinfilmart,independentoftheexperimentalproduction
withparticularpreference,butnottoomuchstressonideologyandbusinesscompatiblewiththeart,whichafeaturefullyexpressedinthesloganofVenicetoexplorethenewdirectoroftheVeniceFilmFestival.Today'sVeniceFilmFestival,althoughthecommercialoperationbehindCannes,butitsuniquestylecontinuestobehighlyregardedinternationalfilmindustry.TheGoldenLionisthefestival'shighestawardforbestfilm.SilverLionsareanirregularawardpresentedinsomeyearsasa"runners-up"prizetotheGoldenLion.Inaddition,otherSilverLionsaresometimesawardedfordebutfilms,shortfilmsanddirection.ASpecialJuryPrizeisawardedtooneortwofilmsinmostyears.TheVolpiCupsareawardedtoactors.Formalawardsforbestactorandbestactresshavebeengivensince1934.Inthemid-1990sawardswerealsogiventosupportingactorsandactresses.TheGoldenOsellasareawardedtodirectors,cinematographers,screenwriters,composers,andforoutstandingtechnicalcontributions.世界上第一个国际电影节。号称“国际电影节之父”。1932年8月6日在意大利的名城威尼斯创办。主要目的在于提高电影艺术水平。
