【篇一:中英文作文对照幸福vs 金钱 money is necessary for happiness

幸福vs 金钱 money is necessary for happiness

there is a saying that money is not everything, but without money you can do nothing. money may not buy happiness, but a certain amount of money is needed for the building blocks of happiness. it’s quite difficult to be happy when you don’t have access to the basic necessities of life. the united states expert study has found that within a certain range, happiness increases as income increases. a certain amount of money is necessary for happiness. you can fulfill your basic requirement for life with money. money can help people solve some problems and make life more pleasant.

money can certainly make someone happy when she is in urgent need it. if you are admitted to a university, but couldnt afford tuition fees, you would not be happy. if one of your relatives suffered from a serious illness, but you can’t afford the fees, you would not be happy. if you have no money to buy a house or even can’t buy your dinner, you can’t be happy. in these cases, you will find money is really necessary for happiness.

someone says that money doesnt mean everything. in some situation, it may be right but not all situation. i mean if someone doesnt won’t feel happy.

in conclusion, life without money means without happiness. money will tackle almost all the problems that you come across. in addition, with extra money your life will become more pleasant.

does money equal to happiness?

there is so much discussion on the relationship between money and happiness. absolutely, money is a necessary condition for a happy life, but money does not mean that the happiness.

in someone’s eyes ,money can buy everything ,its charm and function has exceeded its true value and the meaning of existence . we have to admit the truth that money can buy lots of things even health .in nowadays ,a poor family shall have to live a hard life .the poor people even cant afford to children’s schooling ,no mention to the house in big city . as far as i’m concerned, having money does not mean that possession of happiness.happiness is a kind of feeling .you could earn money by hardworking and struggling ,but you can’t get happiness only through money .(138)

would materialism bring people happiness? 1

nowadays, with the development of modern advertising techniques such as the internet and product placements in movies, companies have more ways in delivering their messages to customers. this is one of the reasons why materialism is becoming more and more popular. however, it is not something that has just appeared. in fact, materialism has existed way longer than modern technology has.for example, french writer albert guy de maupassant published a short story called the necklace in 1884. it describes an attractive yet materialistic young womannamed mathilde loisel, who seeks to escape her destiny. she has been involved in the blind chase of external goods

throughout her life, but has never really gained happiness. the story develops the idea that happiness cannot be obtained from materialism, as it would cause endless dissatisfaction, inferiority complexes and even arrogance among humans.

it is very difficult to satisfy a materialist, because he or she will always have more desires. in the story of the necklace, mathilde loisel is a typical materialist. she feels that she is born for all the delicacies and all the luxuries, so she is unhappy about hereconomic condition while other women of her rank are unconscious(maupassant).in fact, it is not her poverty that upsets her. it is the materialism inside her, which also

makes her ask for more: she asks for a dress when her husband brings her an invitation to a ball, and asks for jewellery when her husband gave up his plan to shoot with friends and bought her the dress(maupassant). mathilde, blinded by her desire for goods, cannot see the trouble it brings upon her and her husband. this is true for most

materialistic people, as their desires are burdens for themselves as well as their family.

2 nonetheless, there are times when the person gets everything he or she wants, but she or he will often end up becoming arrogant. when mathilde finally attends the ball with the dress and a necklace she borrowed from her friend, she “danced madly, ecstatically, drunk with pleasure, with no thought for anything, in the triumph of her beauty, in the pride of her success, in a cloud of happiness made up of this universal homage and admiration”(maupassant). this reveals that people like mathilde admire the outside beauty so badly that they believe others do so as well. however, there is an argument that luxurious clothes and jewellery would make women feel confident, the doubtful part being, is this feeling really confidence, or is it something else? since this feeling often fades away as the luxurious clothes and jewellery disappear, it is more likely to be arrogance than real confidence.

the day of the party drew near, and madame loisel seemed sad, uneasy and anxious. her dress was ready, however. one evening her husband said to her: whats the matter with you? youve been very odd for the last three days.”

im utterly miserable at not having any jewels, not a single stone, to wear, she replied. i shall look absolutely no one. i would almost rather not go to the

party(maupassant)”.

agnes zhang 3 here, the inferiority complex caused by the lack of material prevents mathilde from being happy. as a result, to stay away from feeling self-abased, materialism is what we must abandon.

due to so many examples from the necklace, we can come to the conclusion that materialism often results in dissatisfaction, arrogance and inferiority complex. these feelings are all obstacles in our way to finding happiness. as humans, we are different from all other species because of our ability to control our desires. we should not let ourselves be controlled by them instead, as they would not only control our

moods but also our thoughts. it is obvious that none of these would bring us happiness. in fact, the real key to happiness is one’s enhancement of spiritual and intellectual knowledge.
