Sleepqualityplaysakeyroleinpeople’shealth.Researcherssaythattherearealotofadvantagesifwealwaysgetenoughsleep.Wecanbesmarter,thinner,healthierandmorecheerful.Alsowe’retohavebetterskin,bettermemoriesandlongerlives.Whenyouloseevenonehourofsleepforanyreason,itwillinfluenceyourperformancethenextday.
Ingeneral,adultsarethoughttoneedatleasteighthoursofsleepanight,butarecentsurveyfoundthat,onworkdays,only21%ofthemreallygetafulleighthoursofsleep,andanother21%getlessthansix.Forteenagers,ahealthyamountisabouteighttoninehourspernight.However,about80%ofhighschoolstudentsdon’tgetenoughsleepbecauseoftheirschoolworkorsomebadhabits.
