第一节(共10小题;每小题2分,满分20分)

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(ABCD)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

A

On a Sunday morning, I was driving down a road and saw something I couldn’t believe. A little girl, less than two, was pushing her stroller(婴儿车)across the road. It was Sunday morning and traffic was not heavy.

I stopped my car at once and ran toward her. This little girl knew enough to run from a stranger. I tried to catch her in order that I could get her out of the road.

Suddenly her father came running down a hill across the road from where I had parked my car. He ran right to her and caught her up, saying bad girl to her. I picked up the stroller and gave it to him. The father grabbed the stroller and walked toward where he came from without a word.

I went back and sat in my car for a few minutes with my son. My hands were shaking and tears were about to run out of my eyes. Do you feel cold, Mom? asked my son. I just shook my head.

After this happened, I thought about how thankful I am. Even though the father didn’t say thank you, I feel that I did something good. Doing something for someone else is pleasing, even when it’s only a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

I didn’t really save her, but I feel like it was important that I happened to be there. It is sad that I was the only one who stopped. It really made me a little disappointed that no one else stopped to help.

21. When the author saw the little girl, _____.

A. the girl had lost her way       B. she was driving to work in a hurry

C. the girl feared to go across the road     D. there weren’t many cars on the road

22. The author thought that her help was _____.

A. really necessary        B. worth praising     C. not welcome          D. not useful

23. What can we learn from the passage?

A. The girl’s father didn’t like the girl at all

B. The girl’s father had wanted to thank the author

C. The author shared her experience with her son

D. The author felt sad that no one else helped the girl

B

Once upon a time, lion, the king of woods came to God and said, Thank you, my Lord you have given me a perfect physique(体格) and let me control the whole woods. Hearing this, the God smiled. But your purpose for coming here should not merely be this. It seems that you are embarrassed by something.

Then, the lion made a short roar. Yes, my LordHow considerate you are! As a matter of fact, I do need your help. Although I’m strong, I have been frightened by the cry of the cock every morning.  My lord, please make the cock not cry every morning! Instead of answering the lion’s request, God said, You can turn to the elephant, and he will give you a satisfying explanation.

The lion ran to the elephant with joy. But he found the elephant was stamping(跺脚) with anger when he got there. What makes you so angry? An annoying mosquito has been trying to get into my ear. It almost makes me mad.

The lion left the elephant and understood the meaning of the God.

Everybody will meet embarrassment in his or her life, no matter how strong or mighty he or she is. Most of the time, others cannot help us. It is unnecessary and useless to blame the unfairness of the world. There are positive aspects at any time. Embarrassment can become opportunity if you try to face and enjoy it. It is also opportunity for you to surpass yourself.

24. According to the text, the reason why the lion came to the God is that _______.

       A. he turned to the God for help

       B. He begged the God to punish the cock

       C. he praised the God for giving him so much

       D. He sought God’s advice on how to make the cock not cry himself

25. How do you understand the underlined part the meaning of the God” in Paragraph 4?

       A. Learn to tolerate whatever other may do to you.

       B. Treat others the same way you are treated by others.

       C. Believe in whoever will help you when you are in need of help.

       D. When meeting embarrassment in life, you cannot always get help from others.

26. The underlined word it in the last paragraph probably refers to ________.

       A. the meaning of God                         B. embarrassment in life

       C. unfairness of the world                       D. opportunity you get in life

The benefits of keeping a journal(日志)

If you want to grow, one important thing you should do is keeping a journal. It may seem simple, but it can make a big difference in your life. I have been keeping journals for years. Writing all the lessons I learn and all the ideas I get has become a habit for me.   36  Here are some benefits you will get by keeping a journal.

It prevents you from losing an idea. Have you ever got an idea only to lose it later because you didn’t write it down?   37   But then I developed the habit of writing down every idea that came into my mind as soon as possible. If I’m away from my computer, I usually write it down on a piece of paper that I bring wherever I go. I will then transfer the idea to the journal in my computer.

It helps you review all the lessons you’ve learned. By reviewing your journal, you can quickly see the lessons you’ve learned and the ideas you’ve got.   38  You can use the ideas to propel(鞭策) yourself forward.

39  After keeping a journal for years, you can look back at it and see how far you’ve gone. Things that were big problems in the past might seem small today. The raw ideas you had in the past might have been realized today.

It helps you expand your ideas. When you try to come up with a sentence to express an idea, you are thinking actively about it.   40   In the end, you will expand your ideas.

A. I often experienced that myself.

B. It trains you to express your thoughts.

C. It allows you to see your progress over time.

D. Just use whatever tool you feel comfortable with.

E. Thinking actively helps you connect your idea to another idea.

F. And to be honest, I can’t imagine what my life would be like without it.

G. Then you can do whatever necessary to avoid repeating the same mistakes.

As is known to us, fewer and fewer students do sports regular, which makes them weak and easily tired. There are many reasons about this. First of all, some of the students complained that they have too many homework, resulting in less time to take exercise. Beside, some of them think that it is very difficult for them to keep do exercise, because it is a very hard thing. Because of lack of physical activities, many students are in a poor health.
