近义词

近几年来,二四六级把单选题考试的重点从语法逐渐转移到词汇题,而近义词的比较也成了其中重点考察的内容,因此,把四级甚至六级以内常考的近义词给大家大体列举一二,希望对大家的考级考试有所帮助.但是,因为时间仓促,无法把所有单词的异同都一一陈列,仅以前三组为例,其他还需要大家在有时间的时候把它们补充完全,忘大家见谅.

1. abandon desert leave

abandon v. 丢弃，抛弃 指由于外界压力而被迫放弃感兴趣或负有责任地人或物。

eg. We had to abandon the car and walk the rest of the way.

Leave v. 离开，舍弃 一般用语

Eg. Her husband left her and she is considering a divorce.

Desert v. 抛弃，舍弃 常指在别人困难时背信弃义

Eg. They deserted their homes and fled to the hill.

2． Able capable competent

able: a. 有能力的，出色的 （to do）表示有体力或条件做某事。

Eg. You are better able to do it than I am.

Capable a. 有天才的，有能力的 +of 用于人时，表示有能力，潜力或条件做某事。

Eg. Show your parents what you are capable of .

Competent a. 有能力的，能胜任的 指人具有足够的专业知识，技术或力量去承担或完成某项特殊的任务，其结果也能被人们客观的评价。

Eg. A competent typist is not necessarily a competent secretary.

3. above, on, over, upon

on prep. 在…上面。含有和表面接触的意思

Eg. Let us sit on the grass.

Above prep. 在…之上 但不一定有垂直在上的意思。

Eg. The water came above our knees.

Upon prep. 正式用语，与on 同义，但较少使用。

Eg. He laid his hand upon the boy’s head.

Over prep 在…上面表示部分或全部盖着，或未接触，离某个平面有一定的距离。

Eg. The plane was flying over Denmark.
