A lady had a beautiful black cat, Midnight, who spent his days outside and came indoors at night.

One crisp fall evening he disappeared.
然而在一个凉爽的傍晚，它消失了。
The lady searched for him in vain.

The following spring, however, Mdnight reappeared, looking healthy and clean. She figured he'd been sowing his wild oats.

Everything was back to normal, until that fall, when Midnight disappeared again.

A couple go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and order the “Chicken Surprise”. The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot.

Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down.

”Good grief, did you see that?” she asks her husband.
天呐，你看到了吗?她问丈夫。
He hasn't, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down.
丈夫没有，于是妻子让丈夫一直盯着这个罐子。他伸出手去，而盖子又起来了，他也看到了那两只亮晶晶的小眼睛。
Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening,and demands an explanation.

”Please sir,” says the waiter, “what you order?” The husband replies, “Chicken Surprise.”

”Ah... so sorry,” says the waiter, “I bring you Peeking Duck.”
