Some people, especially the middle-aged and elderly, argue that playing with firecrackers during the Spring Festival is a traditional ritual. Others, usually younger people, claim that it brings about too much noise, air pollution and even danger to haman bodies. For example, a primary-school pupil was badly injured by fireworks in Shanghai last Spring Festival.

In my opinion, although the deafening sound and strong smell of firecrackers and fireworks give us a festive atmosphere, the negative effects on our environment and health are too great.
