There在口语中的用法
1. 表示安慰(多用于小孩，且往往连用两个there)，意为：好啦。如：
There, there, stop crying. 好啦，好啦，别哭了。
There, there! Go to sleep. 好了，好了，睡觉吧。
There, there! Never mind, you’ll soon feel better. 好啦，好啦!不要紧的。你很快就会感到好些的。
2. 表示说话者所言之事是对的(常有得意之味，且多与 now连用)，意为：你瞧! 怎么样? 如：
There now! What did I tell you? 你看! 我是怎么跟你说的?
There now! You see I was right. 你瞧，我说对了吧。
There now! It’s just as I expected. 你看! 果然不出我所料。
3. 用来引起注意，意为：喂；嘿；瞧。如：
Hi, there! Anybody down there? 喂!下面有人吗?
There, that’s done, thank goodness. 瞧，总算完成了，谢天谢地。
A：This box is too heavy. we can’t carry it. 这箱子太重，我们搬不动。
B：Ok, let me help you. There, OK? 好，我来帮你们，瞧，怎么样?
4. 表示挑衅(含有“你能拿我怎么样”之意，多与so连用)，意为：
就是这样；这就是我的话(决定)；你敢怎样? 如：
I’m not sorry I said it, so there. 我这么说并不后悔，你敢怎样?
No, I won’t do it. I just won’t. So there! 不，我不做，就是不做，看你能拿我怎么样!
I love him, and I’ll wait for him and marry him；and you can do what you please. So there!
我爱他，我要等他，同他结婚。你喜欢怎么做就怎么做，事情就是这样。
5. 表示责备、沮丧等，意为：你看；哎呀! 如：
There! You’ve woken the baby! 哎呀!你把小孩吵醒了。
