Hello一般可作为熟人、朋友、青年人之间的招呼用语,语气较随便,译为您好;此外打电话或遇熟人时也可用。译为。在表示问候或唤起注意时,有时可用Hi来代替Hello,显得更为随便。如:

AHello/HiJane!你好,简!

BHello/HiJim!你好,吉姆!

动词be的现在时态

动词be就是我们所学过的am, is ,are的动词原形。如何使用这三种形式主要取决于主语。当主语是第一人称I(我)时,用am, 缩写为I’m;主语是第二人称you(你)或复数时,用are, 缩写为you’re,主语是第三人称it/she/he(它//他)或名词及代词的单数时,用is, 缩写为it’s/she’s/he’s。如:

I am (I’m) Liu Ying. 我是刘英。

You are (You’re)Lin Tao. 你是林涛。

下面介绍一则口诀,帮你熟记动词be的构成

(I)am, (you)areis连着他(he),她(she),它(it)

单数名词用is,复数名词全用are

变否定,更容易,benot加上去。

变疑问,往前提,句末问号莫丢弃。

(1) hellohi可以互换,都表示喂,你好。但hihello用得更多,显得更随和亲近,它尤被美国年轻人所使用。但打电话时常用hello而少用hi。熟人、朋友见面时,彼此问候仅仅说声Hi!就可以了。用hello时,不能“Hello, hello, hello”这样反复使用。

2)要注意hello/hi一般不用于与师长、上级、年长者以及有体面的人打招呼,以免显得对长辈不够尊重。

在英语中如何拼写中国人的姓名,联合国教科文组织已做规定一律按汉语拼音的写法。姓和名分开,姓在前,名在后。现举例说明:

1)如果是单姓,名又是单字,则姓与名的第一个字母要大写,其余字母用小写。如:Li Lei李雷。

2)如果是单姓,名是双字,则姓的第一个字母大写,名的第一个字母大写,名的双字合在一起算一个词,不得分开。如:Han Meimei韩梅梅。

3)如果是复姓,则把复姓字母连在一起,只是第一个字母大写,名字的拼写方法同上。如:Sima Zhao司马昭,Ouyang Yunsong欧阳云松。

中英姓名比较──中文姓名是姓在前,名在后;英文姓名是姓在后,名在前。Mr用于姓前,如Mr Green不能说成Mr Jim.

4)如果名字里有可能造成音的混淆的拼写时,要用连字号或隔音号“’”隔开。如:

Yang Xi-an(Xi’an)杨西安,如写成Yang Xian就成了杨仙。

一、Greetings(打招呼)

1.常见的表达方式

(1)Good morning!/Good afternoon!/Good evening! 分别用于上午、下午、晚上见面问好。

(2)Hello!/Hi! 用于朋友或熟悉的人之间相互打招呼。

(3)Nice to meet/see you. 该句答语常用Nice to meet/see you, too.

2.文化背景及注意事项

(1)英语口语中多用省略句,如Good morning! 也可以直接说Morning!

(2)相互熟悉的人见面打招呼用How are you?,初次见面一般用How do you do

(3)和外国人打招呼时,不要用中国式的问候语,如:你吃饭了吗?你上哪儿去?

(4)How are you? 原用于询问对方身体状况,现在逐渐失去原来的涵义,成为日常生活中的寒暄用语。

1.常见表达方式

(3)如果询问对方名字,可以问:Whats your name?/May I have your name?

2.文化背景及注意事项

(1)如果见了长辈或年龄比自己大的人,最好用Mr. ,Miss, Mrs.等称谓词+family name(姓氏)

What’s your phone number?你的电话号码是多少?

1)这一句型同我们学过的What’s your name?属同一类句型,前者是询问电话号码是多少,后者是询问某人叫什么名字,但都用What表示问什么的词放在句首来提问,这种疑问句叫特殊疑问句。它的回答是针对特殊疑问词来回答的,不能用不是来回答。

因此对该句的回答是针对所问的内容(phone number)来具体回答的,回答是2842942。注意回答时用It指代上文的phone number,以免重复。

2What’s…number?是用来对自行车牌号、房间号、电话号码、身份证号码等进行提问的,答语是It’s+号码。此外还有另一种提问方式:What’s the number of…?如:

What’s the number of your telephone?你的电话号码是多少?

1基数词

表达数目多少的数词叫基数词,本单元出现09的基数词。基数词常用来表示门牌号、电话号码、车牌号码、年代等。但书写时一般用阿拉伯数字,而读的时候用英语。其中0可以读作zero也可以读作字母o的读音,当号码中有相同两个数字相连时,可以借助double(双的、两倍的)加数字来完成,也可逐个读出来。如:

Tel. No. 32687591(读作:Tel. No. Three two six eight seven five nine one)注意:Tel.是电话telephone的缩写词。

Room 304(读作:Room three o four)注意:房间号码中的0读法为字母o的读音,也可以读zero

2)物主代词

表示所有关系的代词叫物主代词,本课所介绍的是形容词性物主代词,它们一般放在所修饰名词的前面,同时它们也有人称和数的变化。形容词性物主代词的前后是不出现冠词的,这是在书写句子时最容易犯的错误。如:my father, his desk, our room, their names. Your aunt等。

形容词性物主代词的用法

形容词性物主代词起形容词作用,在句中只能作定语,也就是说它后面必须跟一个名词。如:

This is my bike. 这是我的自行车。

Miss Gao is our English teacher. 高小姐是我们的英语老师。

I don’t know her name. 我不知道她的名字。

1.“Is this your pencil?”和“Is that your backpack?”“这是你的钢笔吗?”和“那是你的背包吗?”

这两个句型都是一般疑问句,Is this…?指问话人问较近的人或物,Is that…?指问话人问较远的人或物,回答都是用it来代替thisthat,以避免重复使用thisthat。如:

--Is this an apple? 这是苹果吗? --Yes, it is. 是的,它是。

--Is that an orange? 那是桔子吗?

2. Whats this in English? 这个用英语怎么说?

这是一个含有特殊疑问词“What(什么)”的特殊疑问句。in English 可作“在英语中”或“用英语”解。“in+某种语言”表示“用……语言说”的意思。如:

3. How do you spell pencil? 你怎样拼“pencil”这个词?

(1) 此句为特殊疑问句,do是助动词用来帮助构成疑问句或否定句的。一般疑问句结构为:do+主语+动词原形+?,其肯定回答为YesI do. ,否定回答为NoI dont. dontdo not的缩写形式。特殊疑问句结构为:疑问词+do+主语+动词原形+?,否定句结构为:主语+donot+动词原形。第三人称单数作主语时应将do改为does。如:

--Do you know him? 你认识他吗? --Yes, I do. 是的,我认识? ?

--Do you know it? 你知道那件事吗? --No, I dont. 不,我不知道。

I dont know English. 我不懂英语。

He doesnt know English. 他不懂英语。

What do you read? 你常读什么书?

-Does he know her? 他认识她吗?-Yes, he does. 是的,他认识她。(肯定回答)

(2) how疑问副词,在本句中是对某种方式、方法的提问,意思是“怎么样”。how还可用来表示对健康情况、程度、数量以及价钱等的提问。如:

—How is your sister? 你的妹妹身体好吗?

—Shes very well. 她很好。(well在这里是形容词,表示“身体好”)

How do you like this new film? 你觉得这部新电影怎么样?

How much is your backpack? 你的背包多少钱?

4thisthatit

(1)thisthat是指示代词,it是人称代词。

(2)距离说话人近的人或物用this, 距离说话人远的人或物用that。如:

This is a flower. 这是一朵花。(近处)

That is a tree. 那是一棵树。(远处)

(3)放在一起的两样东西,先说this, 后说that。如:

This is a pen. That is a pencil. 这是一支钢笔。那是一支铅笔。

(4)向别人介绍某人时说This is, 不说That is…。如:

This is Helen. Helen, this is Tom. 这是海伦,海伦,这是汤姆。

(5)This is 不能缩写, That is可以缩写。如:

This is a bike. Thats a car. 这是一辆自行车。那是一辆轿车。

(6)打电话时,介绍自己用this, 询问对方用that。如:

—Hello! Is that Miss Green? 喂,是格小姐吗?

—Yes, this is. Whos that? 是的,我是,你是谁?

注意:虽然汉语中使用“我”和“你”,但英语中打电话时绝不可以说:I am, Are you…?/Who are you?

(7)在回答thisthat作主语的疑问句时, 要用it代替thisthat。如:

—Is this a notebook? 这是笔记本吗?—Yes, it is. 是的,它是。

—Whats that? 那是什么? —Its a kite. 是只风筝。

(8)it可以指天气、时间、距离或人,也常用来代替前文中所提到的东西。如:

Its a fine day today. 今天是个好天。

Whats the time? Its six. 几点了?六点。

Its not far from here. 离这儿不远。

—Who is it? 谁呀? —Its me. 是我。

This is a pen. Its Lilys. 这是一支钢笔。它是莉莉的。

4、拓展创新 一般疑问句和特殊疑问句

(1)一般疑问句有两种,一种是由be动词引导的疑问句,另一种是由助动词或情态动词引导的疑问句,本单元主要讲前一种。

动词be的一般疑问句的构成是在肯定句的基础上,将动词be(am, is, are)移至主语之前,这时动词be已在句首,第一字母应变为大写,句末用问号。

肯定句变疑问句的方法可以用口诀“一调二变三问号”来帮助同学们记忆,“一调”是把be提至主语前;“二变”是原主语的大写改小写和人称的改变,12213自身,即:第一人称变为第二人称,第二人称变为第一人称,第三人称不变;“三问号”是句末用问号,用升调读。对一般疑问句的回答分为肯定和否定回答:作肯定回答先说Yes, 再作简单叙述,作否定回答先说No, 再作简单的补充回答。如:

Im Li Ming. 我是李明。

Are you Li Ming? 你是李明吗?Yes, I am. 是的,我是。

You are twelve. 12岁。

Are you twelve? 你是12岁吗?

No, Im not twelve. Im eleven. 不,我不是12岁,我11岁。

She is an English teacher. 她是英语老师。

(2) 特殊疑问句的构成及其回答:特殊疑问句是由疑问词what, where, how, how old来引导的。其结构是疑问词+be/助动词/情态动词+主语,回答时要根据所问的情况回答,不能用YesNo。如:

Whats this? 这是什么? Its a computer. 这是一台计算机。

Whats that? 那是什么? Its a TV. 那是一台电视。
