The year I turned fifty, I decided to do something new every day. However, balancing 365 new things with work and family, while still managing to do the laundry and get dinner on the table every night, was not always easy. In the early weeks of the project, I found it difficult to find so many new things.

It wasn't long before my friends learned that I was open to almost anything I could consider a new thing, and the invitations began pouring in----not just from friends, but friends of friends. As a result, my life was new. I went dog sledding. I attended a Fashion Week fashion show. I went to numerous lectures on all kinds of topics that I never would have previously considered useful or interesting and found something to appreciate in every single one. I even signed up immediately when learning about a local group trying to get into the Guinness Book of World Records by doing something unusual.

As time went by, whenever I learned about something that seemed remarkable. I did what I could to pursue it. Instead of Why, I began to ask why not. Now I find it is easier to just keep my eyes open to the possibilities that surrounded me. It turns out there were new things everywhere, and all I had to do was to make a little effort to enjoy them.

I look back on the year. It doesn't matter to me that many of my new things weren’t exactly meaningful. What matters is how to make full use of them when discovering there is an endless number of new things for me. It seemed to me an obvious sign that at fifty, my life was full of promise. I could continue to grow, stretch my wings, and learn more every day for the rest of my life. I enjoyed the idea of something new, and it gave me a reason to welcome each day as an opportunity to experience the world a little differently.

Every year, billions of kilograms of fresh produce is wasted in the United States. The food ends up in land-fills, producing harmful greenhouse gases. Meanwhile, millions of poor Americans go hungry, without access to healthy, affordable meals.

Evan Lutz is passionate about correcting that social injustice. And he combines that goal with a passion for business. "I want to start a business that not only makes money but also gives back.

Lutz is the CEO and founder of Hungry Harvest, a business which collects and sells "ugly" produce. These are fruits and vegetables that most food companies would throw away due to surface imperfections.

If you go to a grocery store, you'll see all the produce lineup shiny, perfect, with the same size and color. However, if you go to a farm, you’ll notice not all grow the same way. So all that produce which is too big, too small, or in odd size of shape, often gets thrown out. Hungry Harvest takes all that stuff and boxes it up and delivers it to their customers. said Lutz.

For every purchase and delivery, Hungry Harvest donates healthy food to needy people. So far Hungry Harvest has recovered 300, 000 pounds of produce and provided 100, 000 pounds to those in need.

Hungry Harvest doesn't just reduce food from going to waste. It hires people that were formerly in prison, formerly injured or were sick, and people that were living in homeless shelters to help them get back on their feet for a second chance in life.

For Evan Lutz, giving back to others came from his upbringing. When he was a child, his parents instilled in him the values of giving back, so he wanted to bring that to life. Lutz was inspired to act after seeing poverty in areas of Baltimore, Maryland. "Hungry Harvest has turned that hope into a reality, "said Lutz.

Increasingly, young mothers across the United States have strong opinions on sharenting. Those who favor using Instagram say the platform is a great way to share everything with distant family and creates a living photo album for their child to look back on. Those who oppose online sharing say it invades their child’s privacy.

Mothers on both sides of the debate, though, mention relationship-building as one main reason behind their "sharenting" standpoint. Some find trust through new virtual(虛拟的) friendshipswhile others choose to deepen existing relationships through face-to-face sharing .

At their best, the motives are similar. It's to connect, to share,to be known, to be seen, to have a sense that you are not alone. " says Catheri Steiner-Adair, a clinical psychologist. "But the medium that you use to nourish (培养) those desires for connection can vary widely.

According to a poll(民意测验)by CSMot Children’s Hospital, 72 percent of parents say social media helps them feel not alone. And a Pew Research report found this feeling was much

stronger among mothers.

Many parents, however, have concerns about online sharing. The poll from C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital also found that 68 percent of parents worry their posts share private information about their child.

Anti-sharing moms say it can feel uncomfortable asking family or friends to avoid posting photos, and they often feel left out in their mommy-groups. But they also say being sharenting-free" has actually helped strengthen relationships by requiring in-person sharing .

The American Academy of Pediatrics published a study recommending that doctors educate parents on the dangers of oversharing.

But a happy medium is definitely possible, says Sarah Clark, co-director of C S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health. " And the first step towards that is being cognizant(察知的). It requires parents making really specific choices for their kids, and knowing that these choices may be different than the ones they would make for themselves.

Eason, the mom from St. Louis, says she has learned to be more careful of social media posts. "It is not all butterflies and rainbows on here, says Eason I have to be careful

32. In what way does sharenting benefit some parents?

A. Connecting with others B. Parenting in a scientific way

C. Obtaining up-to-date information D. Developing healthy parent-child relationships

33. What’s Sarah Clark s advice to parents?

A. Value in-person sharing. B. Have respect for their kids.

C. Give up the habit of sharenting. D. Make informed choices for their kids.

34. What is Eason’s attitude towards sharenting?

A. She is crazy about it. B. She is cautious about it.

C. She is uninterested in it. D. She is completely against it.

35. What s the author’s purpose in writing the text?

A. To uncover the reason behind sharenting.

B. To prove sharenting is common in the U.S.

C. To explain the potential risks of oversharing.

D. To show new parents are divided over sharenting.

Looking forward to your coming.
